If you’ve spent any time with me, you’ll most likely have recognized my love of substantiating any line of thinking or information I offer. I most commonly do this in my practice…those that come for coaching will rarely hear me use any ‘astro-babble’, simply because it means nothing to the client and since they don’t know what I know, it isn’t relatable. I have learned, however, how to use the resources that I have to get through to someone to offer new food for thought. There are a number of ways in which we can do this in our modern age…audio, books, online or electronic reading or videos. Hell, even good old movies can offer a message to make a point.
For example, an Aries personality will rarely slow down enough to read a book. This doesn’t mean they shouldn’t, but when offering a new insight, these people are q uite visual. So movies or videos might be a better solution. Movies that demonstrate that ‘just do it’ kind of message or have the character get around ‘stinking thinking’ are ideal. I love to recommend Zig Ziglar books and audio tapes for Aries. They also respond well to challenges, so I like to incorporate an exercise of some sort of ‘homework’.
A Taurus person needs a lot of time to adapt to new ways. So plenty of encouragement with involving all the senses is what makes or breaks getting through to these guys. I advise books for the material factor (Taurus needs to put their hands on something) and doing the learning/absorbing/reading in the same environment every day. Repetition and continuity helps! Books like ‘Eat That Frog’ by Brain Tracy or anything that helps pace an earth element while setting a goal sets these guys up for success.
Gemini, being an air element, quite often needs practice in not only considering both sides of an equation, but adeptly identifying which path fits THEM. These mental ninjas do quite well with almost any media when learning and benefit from a ‘pro’s and con’s’ way of addressing any situation. This is actually what makes them experts at talking their way out of almost anything. For them, the focus might be better suited for books like ‘The Double Win’ by Denis Waitely.
The list and examples go on and on and get more detailed the more I see in someone’s chart. The idea is to not tell someone what they should think, but to merely help them arrive at what it is they actually think and then evaluate whether or not that kind of thinking is truly helping them. We do this with information that is already out there. No smoke, no mirrors and no weird vocabulary. Quite often, clients are able to identify where they might be making their own unqualified leaps in thinking, thus exercising concepts like mindfulness or practicing concepts such as the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. If it hasn’t been made clear to you yet, the astrology I use isn’t a predictive tool. In fact, my philosophy is that those who are concerned about the future are rarely anchored in the present. When we trust ourselves, we trust any decision we’ll make in any moment because we know we can handle it. This makes Astrology a Personal Development tool.
As a coach and as an astrologer, that is what I have to offer clients. A guide, or medium, through which they can begin to see not only where they may be ‘getting in their own way’, but just what talents or parts of themselves they may have forsaken. I also have made it MY personal aim to not only have copies of each resource, but to have read/watched/examined each piece. My own dedication to facilitating steps to identify my own leaps in unqualified thinking conveniently help my clients. It was Carl Jung who once said, ‘He who looks outside, dreams. He who looks inside, awakes.’ Other spiritual practices preach things like ‘as above, so below…as within, so without.’ There is a distinct truth in that worthy of discernment.
So whether the initial aim is to simply ‘know yourself’ better or find that you keep bumping up against certain obstacles, your chart and areas of your life have a theme that I can match to any resource out there that can help you arrive. Our learning and evolution only happen when we see the idea come fully formed and there’s an avenue for real-world application that’s accessible and relatable to everyone, rather than just a select few.
It’s there that we cross the line from unqualified leaps in thinking to creating a bridge of understanding. Life works here and we all benefit!
