Training Your Adult Dog to Go In a Cage

Nobody likes to see a dog in a cage, but sometimes there is no safe alternative. Perhaps you have to take your dog on a trip or perhaps your dog tears up your things if you go out. Many reasons might mean you need to train your adult dog to go in a cage happily.

Here are some suggestions that should be helpful:

  • Make Sensible Preparations for Your Cage Training

Love Pets

Take your dog out for a walk to tire him/her out and go to the loo.

  • Have Plenty of Good-Hearted Patience

Remember that your dog may never have been in a cage before except to visit the vet. If so, he/she will probably be hesitant to even go near the cage. Although you fell sympathetic, you must be insistent that they approach it. Repeated coaxing is necessary.

  • Feed Your Dog Inside the Cage With the Door Open

Not only the food but treats too can be given inside the cage. Your dog will begin to think it's not too bad in there. Leave the door open at first so he/she doesn't feel trapped.

  • Make the Cage Comfortable

Put your dog's basket or blanket in the cage. This is another way to make your dog think it's a nice place.

  • Eventually, Close the Cage Door

Healthy Living Made Simple

Gradually introduce the closed cage door, just for a few minutes at first. Be close-by where your dog can see you.
Extend the time slowly until your dog is happy if you leave the cage door shut while you leave the room.

I hope these steps will work for your dog!
