If a dog is struggling hot, he can show these signs:
- Deep breathing
- Their language may be pink or red
- They keep tongues out of their mouth, as if they are tired
- They stretch more than usual and breathe heavily
- They may even have vomit
- They can raise their feet if the ground is too hot for their feet
Things to Remember:
- Like humans, dogs lose appetite during hot weather and may eat less. This is not automatically cause to worry, unless your dog is eating too much or vomiting after food.
- Darker color dogs absorb more sunlight, so consider that if your dog has such skin color, he will feel more heat
- Brighter color dogs are more likely to have sunburn
- Never lock a dog inside the car, regardless of weather.
How can you help your dog:
- Make sure your dog always has access to fresh water
- Avoid walking with dogs during midday, when it is also expected to be the hottest weather
