A friend of mine had come up with an excellent term to describe today's phenomena which includes the likes as reality TV and celebrity news: social porn.

So I got an idea "why not make a series about social porn?" I mean, real porn has an endless amount of categories, but the porn you see daily (on top of the smashing one); you don't even know what it's called!

Glad I have such stimulating friends to blow my head. You should get one or two also. NO, not the hookers you little dirty devil!

Disclaimer. Whatever I'm gonna write is my uneducated ass telling stuff I think I know something about and have observed myself so you shouldn't expect any vital information with what's about to cum... come or academic standards. I ditched them long ago.
For some reason real porn isn't educated at schools so one can only wonder why you'd want to learn about social porn either. Well, maybe it has more relevance to understanding our society than regular porn. I don't know, make that up yourself.

The Ancient Roots of Social Porn

Social porn in its seed is pretty much as old of an phenomena as humans are, because humans are social. And where there is 'social' and 'humans', there is social porn. But in the beginning the way to practice the creation of social porn was more of a real life phenomena in the form of gossiping, which is still a highly used and popular entry level as the first step towards more hard core stuff. For obvious reasons, I cannot specifically pinpoint how exactly our ancestors did it themselves, but I speculate it having been something like spreading rumors on someone's stupid hairy ass, or that alike.

Ancient humans used to paint about gods, animals and sex, so why not rumors about others?

This rather primitive style is quite exceptional because here all the consumers are also, in many cases, the ones actively creating it. Of course, you can remain only as a passive observer but usually the temptation with suitable input is too high to ignore. Hence, gossiping has a tendency to form into a group act.

This group act is highly interactive, exceptionally so, that one could make such an outrageous claim that it's even beneficial for the development of social skills and imagination, since the pictures are painted, not with text and images, but with told stories. I know, others benefit with the cost of one unlucky - cruel world it is indeed.

Being surprisingly "real world" orientated, a case could be made for not including 'gossiping' as a genre of social porn at all. But at the very least it deserves its place as a precursor and enabler for the development of social porn and its many genres constantly evolving this day, to which I'll introduce you later.

It clearly shows us how much as a species we get excited about social "things", in the core of being the need for social interaction which unfortunately has lead to the overreaction and -stimulus to our "social pleasure centers".

What to expect?

I'll be digging some history and ponder on the nature of this phenomena and giving my thoughts while sacrificing myself for the greater good with getting my hands dirty by exploring the vast supply of different content, pretty much filling with whatever my words carry. Sorry in advance, but I need to think about my own well being first. (Too much porn might drain me a little.)
