Reading Terminal Market is a public market that first opened in 1893 within the Reading Terminal train station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has survived over a century and is one of the many iconic destinations in Philadelphia with ~ 100,000 people passing through its doors every week. It's numerous aisles full of a variety of food vendors and specialty stores make for a fun and continuously entertaining visit with new discoveries at every turn.
Although vendors have come and gone over the years, many vendors have been open for decades. One that especially stands out is Bassetts Ice Cream. Bassetts Ice Cream is America's oldest ice cream company and according to the Reading Terminal Market webpage, was the first vendor to sign a lease at the market in 1892 and has been owned and operated by the same family through its lifetime at the market!
