Life is full of ups and downs. It is unpredictable and uncertain. We cannot control our future nor hold things forever but there is only one thing that cannot be shared, stolen and split, an EDUCATION.
Education is one of the key for everyone to acquire knowledge, understand things well, make a decision and be more wise to respect that every individual has its own beliefs, goals, aspiration, inherent background, personal experiences, emotions and sentiments. Education gives us knowledge to understand the world around us and changes it makes.
Based on wikipedia, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states that everyone has the right to education, hence the right applies to all individuals, although children are considered as the main beneficiaries. As such, the right to education is reflected in international law in Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Articles 13 and 14 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Article 26 states:
"Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit. Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace. Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children."
Ironically, in the Philippines, education is NOT a right but a privilege of an individual who is part of what we called "middle and upper class" based on the Caste System or Ancient Indian Society. Since then, many opportunities can make a dream of an aspiring people come true. Few of these are through scholarship, sponsorship, school now, pay later concept and many other ways.
me, @sciencepro and @thvmps are doing inventory for our undergraduate thesis
Basically, me and @thvmps have a scholarship from the government. We are beyond blessed and thankful for such opportunity that we have. Thus, it is our moral obligation to do well and to study harder so that in the future we can help and contribute to our country and to the world.
Thank you CHED and please release our stipend for this semester for us to proceed our experiment.
