This isn’t really a post about Singapore.

It’s undeniable that I love Singapore. I love the food, the sights, the scenes, the orderliness, the cleanliness, the rules, the rules-abiding people, everything. And perhaps there is a bigger reason why I love Singapore - it makes me believe and have high hopes that my country, too, will follow its steps and regain its strength and beauty that were long lost in the hands of corruption, complacency, over-freedom, and elitism.

Don’t get me wrong - I love my homeland the Philippines and its people the most, despite the crap we have been dealing with for many years because of the leaders that poorly governed us. But with our administration today, slowly and surely, the mess others have left are being cleaned out to make way for peace, order, and prosperity in our land once again.

It may take a long time, say a decade or more, to fix our country. But with the Duterte administration now, every Filipino, especially the poor that were overlooked, neglected, and disregarded for a long time, can hope for a better status in life; a life that is full of optimism, not necessarily for themselves, but for their children to have an easier, just, and a much better life some of them might never had.

This is supposed to be a post about Singapore, eh? 😄 But I’m just carried away and kind of disappointed why our former leaders allowed the Philippines to become a mess. We could have been like Singapore, or Japan, or any Asian country that can stand on par with other prosperous countries! But c’est la vie, and what’s important is now, that the current government is gradually fixing things up, opening our eyes to the truth that was long hidden by the past rulers, and caring for and listening to the people that really need it most - the poor.

I might visit and adore the beauty of other countries, but I will never forget and replace you, my country the Philippines, all because I want to see you gain back your long lost beauty, and I want to be a part of it as you do so.
