Only in these past few years that Siquijor has been redeemed as a holiday destination, previously having a notorious name as a place of witchcraft and mysticism to one of the best summer destinations in the country. With my old way of thinking of the former, I wouldn't have any inclinations to visit this island. So armed with this new knowledge, I chose to have come here rather than go to Apo Island where diving is famous for.
It's time to check if the new craze of visiting Siquijor is worth doing as people who can't go to Boracay are going to the surrounding islands in droves. From Dumaguete, Siquijor is very much visible and is the nearest island compared when going to Bohol, Iloilo and Cebu. Iloilo is nearer to Bacolod City, North of the island.
We hired a tricycle to take us around the island, the duration was just right about 4 to 5 hours, visiting all the sights. There are 2 tours being offered but one day is not enough. Best to stay for a couple of days. Let's check the island out!

There is a fish sanctuary on the island, although some endangered species are being caught still, it is allowed when caught outside the sanctuary.

There are a couple of swings where people can have unlimited use.
To access it, there are 135 steps going down, so just be aware that there is no handrails to hold on. Hearsay was that one tourist was carried up by the lifeguards as she was unable to go up anymore. How true was this I'm not sure but it was a bit steep so please be aware.
Reaching the falls is worth it for those who are able. Don't forget your swimsuit as a swim is part of the tour duration. For those who have no plans to swim, tiny bamboo footpaths/bridges were made to walk around the falls. Having 3 layers to chose from and 2 swings, a swim and unlimited jumps aren't boring.

Siquijor i can definitely recommend. Contrary to what it is famous for before...any Filipino will be surprised when seeing the place.
