Hi dear Steemians β€
This has been part of my daily routine now! Checking my steemit blog, reading, upvoting and resteeming post. Joining chat groups in Discord App ,meeting new friends and engaging in talks sharing ideas and experiences and most importantly, posting new blog, at least once a day! πππ I couldn't be prouder seeing myself grow as a steemian and at the same time as a fulltime banker ππ
Today, what I'm gonna share to you is why employees should leave their workplace at the end of their shift.
SOURCE
I have always been workaholic. In my past job as a Payroll In-charge, I worked overtime and even on weekends. Those were the days when I really valued my work more than myself and family. π I stayed late doing all the paperworks to meet deadlines and all. Plus I have a very demanding boss (ooopsss, i think he's still not using steemit πβ). I need this by afternoon, I need that by next morning bla bla π. What I am really proud of myself is that, all of my hardships were reciprocated with appreciation! Remembering those times, it does put a smile in my face because I am still happy I got to experience those π That taught me great life lessons as a worker. π
Fast forward, I got to work in a bank. Everything changes, from all the piles of pending work-to-do to going home without even a single paperwork! I started as a Bank teller. I enjoyed what I was assigned to. I have always been fond of computation and counting π Then I got transferred to Customer Service rep position where I am currently working at. In this position, I tell you, I am back to a lot of pendings and piles of work-to-do π I thought I got enough of those already π But what's the difference between before and now is how I see working late as a bad habit than a good one π
Why employees should leave the workplace early π‘
Work as never-ending process π΅
After extending a lot of hours at work, what have you gained aside from your overtime pay less taxes plus a little appreciation, sometimes none? Exhausted body and mind ofcourse. You may have done majority of what-to-do but you will never be finished. Hey, tomorrow is another day, reserve your energy for the rest of the day π
Interest of client is important, SO IS YOUR FAMILY ! They always got your back πͺ
After a stressful day at work, there is no more rewarding than going home to your family π Our family is our inspiration why we are striving hard, to give the bright future we want for them. Spend time with them while you still can, especially to your parents π You might be busy growing up that you forget they are also growing old π
There is more to life! Dont let life be meaningless π
Work maybe a huge part of life but not the whole! Hey, you got friends and family to enjoy life with π Go out and do what you love to do. Go on trips, buy what you want, watch your favorite movies and eat what you want π Do things that make you happy. Leave the office early for a dinner with a friend. It's not that you are not serious about your work, it is about balancing your personal and professional life π
A person who stays late is not hardworking π΅
As I've said, it is balancing personal and professional life. There is time for working which is the office hours and time for your personal matters, before and after the office hours. The two should not intertwine! Know how to manage and value those times to be productive and efficient π
Funny though, not recommendable to do at work π Pass the work to your boss if she/he forces you to work overtime π
It may sound absurd but it's partly right. Having excessive work means your boss was not able to divide the responsibilities among your colleagues. He is inefficient too, so why have all the burden, share it to him too πβ
I learned my lessons now, I still work overtime but not to the point that I sacrifice my social life. I know when to work overtime and have fun! It's about evaluating your own, as a person and as a worker. The bottomline is: Are you happy with the life you have now? Ask yourself now.
YOLO, you only live once. Explore what the world can offer.
Pack up now and Let's go HOME β€π
-jo π
Hello Jo, congratulations on learning this lesson the hard way.
Work-life balance is something worked on.
Knowing our priorities, and working on those priorities is a decision we face everyday. It's in keeping those pulls in place and the conscious effort to always work on our priorities that we achieve work-life balance. Leaving the office early is one of those decisions that we have to make every work day.
Keep it up! Steemn on!
