Earlier today, I rode a van going to Manila. I ride the bus most of the time because it’s cheaper although it takes you an extra hour or more to Pasay. I don’t usually take the van not unless I’m rushing to catch something on time like today.
On our way, we were already half way to our destation when someone from the driver’s radio informed him that there’s an “operation” in Pasay which meant that there were traffic enforcers on the destination which will gave them violation because they are colorum (term used for illegal public transport in PH) vans. And since they know that, commuters were forced to alight at the closest bus stop along the way which on our case is still halfway of our destination.
Here’s the thing, commuters already get the hassle (alright, somehow its on us for riding a colorum van) and what’s worse was that the driver were fooling us on bringing back half of the money. He’s saying that we’ll only get 1/4 of the fare but not explaining why. Although some were able to still get the other 1/4 of the fare but for me, I didn’t bother to get mine as it consumes more time on dealing with the other P20 than using my time to ride another vehicle to get to my destination. It’s still P20 but I’m in a rush and we all know how hard it is to ride a vehicle during rush hour that’s why I didn’t bother to deal with the driver.
This is just one scenario on how inconvenient public transpo gives the commuters. There tons of other worse stories than this. And we can’t do much about it aside from spreading things like this to the social media. Atleast, what I’m trying to do here is to inform and let people be aware on how hassle our public transportation is.
Even though this has happened to me earlier, I still tried my best to make it to my destination and didn’t dwell much time on hating about it. Instead, move on and try to not let things like this make it as a bad day. Cheer up! Don’t let down yourself with a stupid transportation system like this.
