I have not posted in such a long period of time but this past week prompted me to actually think of Philippines more.
This is based on 2 topics that has been VIRAL in the Philippines
- The win of Ms Catriona Gray as the 4th Ms Universe
- The bully who will not be named
I was thinking why these 2 topics have touched Filipinos. I honestly believed there was no doubt Catriona will win and on the other bullies have been a common news
Let us start with Catriona Gray
I am familiar with her as I used to attend a lot of Fashion shows years ago, I also had the chance to watch her Gig in Saguijo and I find her pretty but I was not very familiar with her name.
I took this photo but did not get to take a photo with her
I opted to take photo with Valerie who was more popular because of her PBB stint
I must say Catriona is quite nice in person and really pleasant to strangers. I also noticed that her parents are always with her I did not know back then that she was that young
Her win was well deserved and she said many quotable quotes that made Pinoys proud
Working in some of the poorest areas of my country, I found that it was a lack of child support, not poverty, that killed their dreams. A child once told me, “Cat, that’s just not my life, and those dreams aren’t made for me.” But I stand here today because someone believed in me and we owe it to our children to believe in them.
I’m for it being used in a medical use but not so for recreational use, because I think if people were to argue, what about alcohol and cigarettes? Well everything is good but in moderation.
I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila, and the life there is very poor and very sad. I’ve always taught myself to look for the beauty in it, to look for the beauty in the faces of the children, and to be grateful. I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining, and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson. If I could teach also people to be grateful, we could have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster, and children would have a smile on their face. Thank you.
Variations of these answers were related to Sickleave, working for call centers, being fat and a whole lot more saved now in MEMEs
Interesting enough people seem to ignore that Duterte's plan to legalize Marijuana is connected to one of her questions.
From start to finish it was a flawless performance, it was one of those instances that people watched and people can already tell that it is a sure win, not to mention that 2 of the judges are Pinays, one of which was Singson's daughter (I am familiar with her as we were from the same college) and the other is a popular designer based overseas.
There was no doubt about it Catriona's stellar preparation shows in every walk and poised movements, her answers were brilliant and smart enough that people even doubt if it was candid
Her confidence and beauty was oozing from every pore, hence ever Filipinos all over the world is happy about her win
SHE DESERVED IT!
The other person which will not be named
This young person is a bully: who not only abused fellow youngsters with his martial arts skills but also the supposed influence of his family
Many people was triggered because at one point in our lives we have probably experienced how to be a victim of a bully
We knew how these children are helpless and how they will probably have to deal with the emotional scars longer that the physical scars
It is heartbreaking that there are people like this kid who probably cause more sufferings on a daily basis
It is time that parents see how their kids may behave like angels at home but may have been causing hell to many children in their school
I wanted to say this child may also be a victim, but what if he is not, what if he is really imbalanced and have some brain damage? How do we know?
I guess for now there is no way to tell
I DON'T KNOW IF HE DESERVES THIS ATTENTION
Both this WIN and BULLYING Is now part of Philippines Trending history, and it is the last few topic that broke the internet before the year ends to cap 2018 off
One is Positive the other is Negative but they will be forever stored in the World Wide Web, which will soon be forgotten when the next win happens or the next bigger bully is recorded
As an OFW, variations of posts have been on my social media timeline, I am not complaining but I will not re-share, post or like it on Facebook I want these stories to both die of natural death, I hope Filipinos will learn from it and move on,
I hope people don't think this is just entertainment but a point of learning.
