How long will be the lockdown?....Philippines update.

Whatever the government called it, it is a lockdown! Not only in the main capital region but all over the country.

Every cities, town and provinces already closing their borders, limiting people's movement.

All kind of public transportation, in land, sea and air are suspended. Some places have a window of 3 hours in the morning and another 3 hours in the afternoon to buy foods, drugs and other essential things, the rest are curfew hours with no people are allowed to go outside.

In my place here, checkpoint need to hold your id's to allow you to go to the market. I've been told to limit my passenger to one person only, with a little chat with the soldiers they allow us to pass. I have different feeling seeing soldiers with long firearms limiting your movement. Looks like things getting stricter as days come. So in the supermarket, after withdrawing some savings , we buy three full carts of goods and foods anticipating that this lockdown will extend beyond the one month announcement.

This disruption causes a toll on the economy, forcing workers to lose their daily income. Commodities like rice, meat, vegetables, drugs are on a price increase now because of diminishing supply. Even the government imposed a price freeze, this will only worsen the supply problem because of the lockdown of people.

The government lacks the resources of copying what China or Korea have done to this Covid19 crisis. It needs donation of medical equipments and testing kits from abroad plus the lack of medical personnel and hospitals to combat this crisis.

Health officials said, that the idea of lockdown is to limit the spread, as the virus will die on its own without a host within a month period.

Hopefully after a month, we can see positive results so the people can go back to normal life.
