Been there twice, early in the morning as 6am, to the 2nd day wake of the Late Cardinal at Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, and I noticed of the increasing number of sympathy and funeral flowers filling up the area, getting many day by day. This means how Cardinal Vidal is much loved by many... He touched and means so much to a lot of people...

BUT WHY AND WHAT FLOWERS MEAN TO A FUNERAL? What are these some commonly sent flowers? Its shapes and arrangements to choose from?
This is just an answer to some curiousness..

WHY FLOWERS? Because...

  1. FLOWERS HAVE A SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE. They are symbolic not only of love.and sympathy, but also of eternity and immortality.

  2. It creates an atmosphere of warmth and beauty adding to the.dignity and consolation of the funeral service. FLOWERs dont wither and die on the hearts of the bereaved. They are indelible memories recalled thru time.

  3. They are visual expressions of respect to the dead, and sympathy for the bereaved. Because it is often difficult for.those mourning a death to put feelings into words..

  4. They are means of lending support and sharing the burden of grief.

WHAT ARE THESE FLOWERS USUALLY SENT and what these symbolize?

Peach and pink roses for gratitute and sincerity.
Yellow ones mean friendship that expresses our support. All these give sympathy to the grieving family.

Mostly, these are typically reserved for large groups, the deceased belonged to or a group of co workers or associates
