Today I'm introducing to everyone my best friend who's German. Her name is Miriam and I love her bunches. She is a volunteer in my country and she's to stay here for about 10 months. I met her in her 2nd month since she volunteered in my University as a teacher's assistant. Since then, we've always been hanging out, she'd sleep over and accompany me ever since I've moved out from my family.
Ever since I could remember, she's been asking me to take her to Ukay-ukay. She's head about it and she wants to try! She also loves the idea of how cheap the clothes are. She's very cost efficient, you see, and so am I. Since the holidays have begun and we finally found time to go out and and go ukay-ukay shopping, we took our time!
To people who does not know what Ukay-ukay is, it's our version of Thrift Shopping in the Philippines. It's a bit more hassle and you'd have to really take your time.
Going inside, the first thing she asked was "Where do we start?" and I laughed because even I don't know where to start. The place we went to was HUGE. Then she moved to one nearest to us "We'll develop a system, we'll start here". It was really amusing for me since even Filipinos don't "develop systems" as she called it.
She had a lot of questions "How much are these?" "Where do they come from?" "Can I fit these?" and so on. It was nice to see her enjoying and trying out something new.
All in all, she had a lot of fun. We moved from one place to another, choosing, fitting, buying. It was a lot of work, it was tiring, especially under the weather we've been in. We were tired and weary right after, but we had fun. Experience is everything and as long as she is in our country, I'm going to make sure I'll have her try the things she can't find in her own country to make her stay here unforgettable and worthwhile.
I hope you guys enjoyed this article! Salamat! And to Miriam, Ich liebe dich so viel schatzi! Danke für alles! (*I love you so much! Thank you for everything!)
Show her you post, perhaps she will join us here. Awesome effort in sharing your moments
