Divine Mercy Shrine - a place for Peace and Solitude

The place is clean, peaceful and serene with a beautiful view and well-kept garden. The Divine Mercy Shrine is located in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental which is around thirty minutes away from Cagayan De Oro.

The shrine features a 50-foot statue of Jesus Christ, the biggest in Asia. It serves as a pilgrimage site for the Divine Mercy devotees. We asked the management what the two rays red and white represent, and they said it portrays the blood and water gushed forth from the body of Jesus Christ.

You have to take several steps uphill to see the massive statue and to pray in the church. (Picture below is me and cousin during our visit)

As a pilgrimage and sacred site, visitors are not allowed to wear shorts and other revealing clothing. Visitors wearing such are required to cover themselves with a blue cloth provided by the shrine administrators.

This is where we prayed solemnly and asked for God's guidance and forgiveness.

Divine Mercy Shrine is a must-visit, especially for devoted Christians.
