It was supposed to be a good day, but you know, we can't predict what's going to happen next. And so while scrolling on my phone, I received the most unexpected message from GCash.
My reaction looked something like this after my few remaining bits of brain cells have finally comprehended the message and successfully relayed it to my nervous system. Lol. Please don't mind this paragraph, I am just trying to be funny.
Like the man on the photo below, my initial solution was to talk to the customer service. But I remembered I don't like phone calls so I tried reaching out through Facebook. Unfortunately, chat support seems automated and the text field to enter a message is missing. And so I switched to Twitter (as usual) to find tweets of users who have similar problems as mine. Luckily, I found one and replied to that tweet.
I was so worried and even thought of going to a Globe store to have it fixed because the Basic User level won't let you access most of the app's functions. Plus, I have still have some amount in there.
In the app, a message suggesting for KYC (Know Your Customer) kept popping as I tap on some buttons. I was really hesitant to do another KYC because I already had it before and I'm quite not okay about doing it again. But I have no options, and so I did it. 😩
It says my application will be reviewed within 30 minutes and I am surprised that it was reviewed within the time it has promised. 24 minutes to be exact.
Oh you don't know how much relieved I felt after seeing this messages!
HOWEVER...
Remember I replied to a tweet? Well, somebody liked my tweet which was allegedly a customer care Twitter account of GCash. It also sent a direct message asking for my number to help me verify my GCash account. (See photo below)
First of all, it was sketchy because I know Globe GCash rarely or never replied to complaints, most of all, like complaint tweets. Lol!
Second, the account is not verified! I checked the profile and it only have 4 followers and the account was made just this December. 🥴
Immediately, my few functioning brain cells warn me that it's a scam. 🙅🏼♀️🙅🏼♀️🙅🏼♀️
The truth is, I felt shocked that my account is a step away from possibly getting hacked if I am not aware and vigilant. If I let my frustration take over and gave my details then I could've gotten myself into deeper trouble.
I am just thankful that I didn't give in to such bait. I am also thankful that my account was immediately verified again. I just hope nobody gets reverted to basic user again. GCash should fix such glitches because it worries many of its users. 😩
