Softdrinks for so many of us is heaven. Specially when we want to beat the thirst caused by the heat of summer. Some of us even make this a part of their everyday lives. Come on, who doesn't like a cold bottle of Coke coupled with a great tasting meal or snack (meryenda)?. That's why it's so frustrating that it has excise tax nowadays. Can you believe that you have to pay 6 or 12 pesos of excise tax per liter for sweetened beverages. And yes!!! Softdrinks are included!!. I believe this is the government's way on how to solve health problems specially Diabetes which one of them that our society faces as of today. It's like the government saying to us "Sorry but an ounce of prevention is better than a pounds of cure" as the old saying goes.
