Size does matter for these ladies...

A friend sent me 3 of these yesterday and i'm having one for lunch.

It took sometime for me to peel it.
Smells good as I peeled it with my knife.

Normally pinoys would eat mangoes with fishsauce(bagoong ng alamang) but with this variety of mango, you wouldn't need one. Its sweet. It had thick flesh and thin seeds. It weighs more than a kilo on the average.

I thought of saving its seed to propagate it but realize it would take me around 8 to 15years before it will bear fruit so i went over the internet to search what kind of mango it was and if there were grafted seedlings on the market.

Later on i found out that it was exotic and locally grafted called the

Giant Sweet Catimon Mango

And there were variety of seedling available in the market. They had single and double stem graft seedlings that are sold around 70 dollars a piece.

Quite expensive for a tree if your a Filipino but its pricy for a reason. Its flowers are rain resistant and its fruiting is continuous from January to September of the year. Harvesting it won't be a problem too because dwarfted variety will only grow up to 6ft tall and you can even plant it on a plant box.

Its also resistant to pests like mango hoppers, capsid bug and Cecid fly. And unlike conventional mangoes, the tree does not need induced spraying with Potasium Nitrate. It bears fruit on its own.

Hello, kababayan. That seedling is quite pricy. Is there anyway I could create my own tree like that? Maybe, do the actual grafting. What types of mangoes should be combined? I'm really interested. My father would love this.

I dont know how they came up with this variety. Ill post the link of their fb page.

That's nice. Thank you so much!

Maybe you could reverse engr ung method nila and sell it at lower costs para lalong tangkilikin. Nung una ayoko pa kainin kasi akala ko kinalabaw n manga eh ayoko sa amoy nun. Un pla kakaiba. Nhng pagbalat ko amog ko agad ang bango nya. Masarap xa.

Akala ko din po carabao mango e. Di pala. I would like to try this pagkauwi po sa isla. Great post. Thanks for sharing sir.

Thanks you know how to graft trees? I'd love to do farming kaso limited kaalaman ko.hehe passion ko lng mgtanim

Haha. Hindi po. I learned it from high school but I don't think I still remember it right. I can always check my notes, look it up in the internet or study po from experts. I'd like to teach it to my father. Malamig po ang kamay niya sa mga halaman at puno e. He already planted Banana, Sineguelas, and a lot of Mango trees nung binata pa po siya. We even had a little garden before and sold a lot of vegetables.

Wow, you had an awesome childhood siguro. I love fruits and id love growing up in a farm full of fruits.hehe

Eto yung ads sa fb... maxado nga mahal pero dahil mganda nga ung puno at bunga mdami bumibili.

I know that manggo! It was what we called MAGNOLIA MANGGO TREE. Than can grow in a small pot! And in low light....

Magnolia is a good variety too. It looks like magnolia but as a see it, they are different.

Can you tell me the different?

dont know much about magnolia but i think the key difference was that sweet catimon was a product of careful frafting methods. im sure the catimon variety was made in the Phil. Dont know about Magnolia but my friends says they were different.

Because when i saw that pictures and the tree, i know the variety... Magnolia manggo is the giant manggo and very sweet manggo from the philppines discovered by one of the filipino man with two separated roots in plastic. The price of that if ij not kistaken is 5,000 pesos each or may be now is less.

Actually i would like to bought atleast 20pcs of that. In seminar, after 3years exactly it will have fruits even this is dtill small tree with theight of 1meter or 1.5 meter. I saw that in their blogs and website...

In 6 months. seedlings of catimon sweet mango could bear fruit already, i think that distiguishes the two. i saw seedings with fruits already.

Maybe...

Yumm I love mangoes from the Philippines :) The dried ones are also good!

Yup the dried ones are made up of the best mangoes in the country. The mangoes from Guimaras island.

Interesting, it typically says 'Cebu' on the packaging.
