SMART Phones are literally what they are and what they should be! But have you asked yourself at one point, where do you actually stand with all these technological advancements???? Does a smart phone a necessity to have good features in specific, like taking pictures????

Is it really a SMART PHONE or just a SMART USER OF THE PHONE??? Or BOTH??? 😂😂😂

Pictures have been a wonderful avenue in expressing ourselves with loved ones, friends, keeping memories for ourselves and to a wider scale, for social media exposure ought to be shared world wide. Indeed quality photos go a long way, in terms of attention and social media presence. Quality photos way back are just associated with professional photographers, well until now we can still say, that they do have their own share of spotlight, though undeniably with the event of smart phones and photo & video editing apps it’s a bit harder to decipher which one is professionally done or just smartly/skillfully edited.

The ART of photography, on a personal point of view, it takes an eye for you to automatically see the right angles in effortlessly capturing amazing photos. Photos not in need of any enhancements or filtering. EYE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY can be learned but for me it’s more of a GIFT!

Achieving quality photos nowadays is just at the tip of our fingers. Apple 7+ have launched the first ever portrait option in their camera, again revolutionizing our picture perfect experience. But does most apple users are aware about how it’s being used? I myself been seeing it on my phone, but didn’t know initially what magic it can bring to my photos 😂 until a friend of mine introduced it to me.

Technically achieving the perfect Portrait Photograph entails a lot of different lighting styles or techniques such as

THREE-POINT LIGHTING
• Key light - main light
• High key - all white background and predominantly white and yellow color only
• Low key - one sided lighting to achieve contours

FILL-IN LIGHT
Used to control the contrast in the scene best for head and shoulder shot.

BACK LIGHT
Also known as accent lighting, as it accentuate the subject and typically separate the subject from the background.

BUTTERFLY LIGHTING
Uses only two forms of light the key light and rim light. Often this type of lighting needs a reflector being placed below the subject’s face to reduce the effect of the shadow.

In modern photography, lighting techniques have evolved also, so you can definitely find a lot of other ways to improve your portrait photography.

Here are some of my shots that I have personally captured and mastered. If you are an iPhone user, the two important things you have to perfect with portrait photography is the distance and lighting exposure of your subject, with just a tap, you already have a great photo without undergoing through all the technicalities aforementioned.

Basically portrait photography gives you the ability to highlight certain features of your chosen subject by allowing other less important factors be depicted in a soft focus, usually by blurring the background.

The SMART phone is a big factor in achieving great shots, but the most important thing to consider is the USER of the smart phone! Hahaha I’ve known a couple of people who doesn’t have any idea at all about their smart phone features. EXPLORE and DISCOVER!

Lovely tutorial and photography, still have to come to grips with using a phone camera. Perhaps I am just old school, a phone is a bit more than a phone now days. But the camera is a camera is a camera and I still love learning and experimenting with a camera @virgo27
