An admittedly-brief overview of start-up news from the Philippines in Southeast Asia, as covered in the English-language press online.

The Philippines is another emerging start-ups market that is deceptive at first glance. Whilst in-country tech start-ups face challenges around funding, discovery, adoption and infrastructure, what's often overlooked is the large Filipino population working elsewhere in Asia, and the opportunity that represents in fintech particularly.
