BEAT THE HEAT : Filipino Way

It's Summer time again! Sun shines so bright and its ray will toast you like a meat LOL. Sweat all over the body , itchiness all over the head. Bath now, bath later.. bath every minute and every hour .Wanna get super ice cold drinks and fruit shakes. Oh! it's gettin' hot in here!

We only got two seasons here in the Philippines : the dry season and the wet season.Summer feels is officially starting , usually from the month of March up until end of May . By this time too, schools/students are on their long break , so students are able to enjoy this season.

So, what do we love to do during this hot season , I have just listed some of the things Filipinos love to do during Summer time .

Beaches/Island hopping

Lots of Filipinos love to go to different islands and beach resorts especially during summer . Either bathing on a swimming pool all day or plunging their body to the beauty of ocean with matching sunkissed . Two of the famous places with amazing beach resorts are Palawan and Boracay

Palawan

Palawan is an archipelagic province in the Philippines. It lies between West Philipine Sea and the Sulu Sea. Three famous island here are El Nido , Coron and Puerto Princesa

Boracay

Boracay is a small island located in the province of Aklan . The island has received awards from numerous travel and publication agencies for its beauty.It's located approximately 315 km . South of Manila.

Staycation in Baguio or Tagaytay

Baguio is known to be the summer capital of the Philippines , it's a mountain resort city located in the Northern Luzon part of the Philippines . People love to go there so they can experience cool climate , usually From March to May the temperature is ranging from 14 -16 °C or average low. It's approximately 5 hours and 23 minute-drive from the Manila Airport to Baguio City. source

Tagaytay is also one of the favorite tourist destinations in Philippines , Aside from its beautiful sceneries where you can see from there the Taal Lake in Batangas , Filipinos go there because of its cool climate too, brought by high alitude. The temperature is ranging from 19 - 21 °C average low.It's a 59km-drive from Manila via Aguinaldo Highway.source

Having ice cold drinks

When it's dry season , people tend to thirst more , aside from drinking water a lot , Filipinos love to consume cold drinks , especially those with ice like halo halo and fruit shakes

Halo-Halo is a Filipino dessert especially during summer . It's made up of crashed ice , evaporated milk , with banana , coconut , agar jelly , sweet beans, pinipig ,lecheflan , ube and ice cream as its toppings too.

Fruit shake is known all over the world . It's simply made by mixing crashed ice and any fruit you would want in a blender , and taaadaaa! cold dessert you got!.

Flying Kite

Filipinos , especially the kids , love to play or fly kites during summer , they usually ask and elderly to make one for them. This activity is also like a relaxation in a windy ambience Home-made kites are usually made of , wood , paper , plastic or cloth material .
Here in the philippines we use 'Walis tingting' and plastic material to make kite.

Filipinos sometimes just tend to buy their own inflatable pool and set it up just inside the house backyard or vicinity. And most of the time a D.I.Y. pool using a large basin, LOL. Tried that when i was a kid, and im letting my kids experience that too.
