The opinion of Egyptian philosophers about the human spirit

Some professors in philosophy at Cairo University argue that spirits and nafs are two words that have one or the same meaning. So the difference between the two words does not show the difference between the spirit and the Nafs. The nafs comes from "NAFASA" (breathing), while the spirit comes from "RIIH" (wind), both contain the sense of air (aether) which is a substance that is breathed by humans or animals by breathing. It shows that our ancestors used to think that what brought us to life is this air
