Impermanence is a universal truth, it is associated with existence, none of them could exist without the other. The harsh truth is that everything comes into our experience is time bounded. How long it would last is as essential quality of it as how it looks or feels. A universal truth can’t be broke, we break ourselves each time we try to elude it.
All of us have experienced loss at certain stages of our lives. It is not the kind of experience we can easily go through. Many of us feel as though their lives have collapsed after losing something they have already made essential to their well-being.
Fleeting is the very nature of every experience we have in our lives, yet we can’t take it. We stick to experiences expecting them to last forever. We have been programmed that life should take a certain form and everything involved should be there forever. We have grown accustomed to whatever we experience and made it part of who we are. Weakness and neediness are what we make of ourselves when we identify with whatever arises in our experience. Happy ever after is something we hold into turning our backs to the fact that nothing is meant to be there forever. Therefore, the world seems to collapse around us when such a thing reaches its final time and vanishes.
My Idea, that might seem obscure to many, is that we still can change our attitude toward loss. To be grateful for experiencing something for a while during our life instead of mourning its loss as if it were meant to be ours forever, to realize that no external thing is part of who we are and its appearance in our lives was a bliss. It was there to add new meanings to our lives, and the time has come to move on to another experience.
So true. Still, it can be very tough xx
