Selfish To Not Have Children?
So, this is often an argument some may come up with once somebody says they do not want kids. For instance, a friend of yours might have her fallopian tubes tied up, or there may be other reasons for infertility which is a force they may not be in control of.
Do you find someone who does not want to have kids, to be a self-serving person? If therefore, why? I mean, what if the person simply is not good with youngsters, or has some health problems, that will place them in danger throughout pregnancy? Please share your thoughts.
Contributing To Future Generations
The way I see it's this: everyone has (in a perfect world) a large extended family who helped to create them into the person who they're nowadays, and every person among that tree should nurture future generation. Now, making children might not be the method that they do that. However, there's a responsibility to assist in some way and to take part.
Some individuals say that childless ladies are self-serving; others say that mothers who have kids are selfish. There's some advantage to each claim; if you've got a child, well, you're contributing to overpopulation.
Selfless Attributes
Furthermore, if you're in a less fortunate situation, then there is a high likelihood your kid can find yourself on welfare programs that some may class as a 'burden on society'. However, that's another debate in itself. In all fairness, though, taking care of a baby is troublesome to work which requires abundant self-sacrifice and denial of pleasures. In this respect, parenthood might be considered selfless.
On the opposite hand, society must replenish itself so is it our duty or does the society we live in give us a right to decide or is it a gift we must always cherish?
Thanks for sharing this interesting subject, from my point of view, reproduction is the characteristic of life and existence, which is the natural instinct of creatures. The creatures that do not multiply are creatures that will die while they are still alive..

It is short-term selfishness unless of course you are too poor. In any case, my parents are helping their 90 year old parents to just survive. So in essence if you have children and raise them properly the chances of your own survival go up. If you don't bother to have children, you may end up alone, with nobody to give a shit about you.
You may also have more money in your pocket ;)

Leading a life without children sounds pretty vacant and dull. As time goes on friends and others you know start to slip away and it is always great to know that there is someone there who is willing to care for you.

Right now we are facing a 2 big problems and solving one will prejudice the other!
We are overpopulating the planet that´s a fact, and at the same time we need to renew generations to produce wealth and sustain the older people.
So we are at a steady state where there is no right or wrong decision to make, because we have to many problems that require solution.

Some people tend to argue that in the world we will get to a point where the human population will start declining. I don't know where that roof is going to be but since the population is decreasing it is probably when the world is being stretched to its limits.

There is always an optimistic point of view, that when we reach the point where is just impossible to have more people, we will need to colonize a new planet or something like that, in a long future! (China is going to mars in 5 years, already confirmed so...)

It's funny how wealthy people are less likely to have kids while poor people are pumping them out. An awesome recipe for civilization.
