Is Silence A Source of Greatness?

Is Silence a Virtue or is it a Burden?

Is there a beauty to silence?

Silence is hated on, avoided and rejected. However, silence is your friend, and it's magical. Wouldn't you want to sit in complete silence with no distractions and watch what'll happen?

Your awareness touches a subtle recognition that everything around you is natural motion, and all of this motion is rested in the space of Silence.

You will begin to see that silence is the space for everything. If you wait for life to happen and sit still the unexpected can happen and something truly intense can come from the constant monotony of silence.

It's only when we become quiet does our pain start to become recognised by our conscience, all happening within the space of Silence.

Those who spend their days talking, in the centre of attention often deprive themselves of the listener's benefits. Being silent and listening allows people to gain knowledge and perspective.

Being on the outside of a conversation allows the opportunity to form ones own views and create a strategy to carry out those views. Those who are usually silent are more likely to be taken seriously when they decide to express their views rather than those who are dogmatic.

Moreover, silence has been studied extensively in psychology and does have a few downfalls. While too much of it will prove harmful (psychotic events were seen in prisoners who've sat in solitary for awhile), it allows people's minds to slow down and focus. This reduces stress, improves cognition, etc..

Here is a video proposing the problems with complete silence and having no company of the usual sounds that surround us every day as we try to make out what we are used to in absolute silence driving us crazy with anxiety:

Love your thoughts! Have a great day!

Thank you.
Hope you have a great day as well :)

Great piece, very interesting perspective, sometimes it is better to say little then it is to say too much.

I think listening is definitely as good as if not better as just purely talking.
We just need to find a balance.

Thanks, very positive. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad that you found it positive

What would the result be of bringing candidates in not knowing what the room is, and being blindfolded?

I think some may just be fearful of the unknown as they have no idea of their surroundings.

Very interesting experiment. Your content is brilliant thank you.

Thank You

By nature, I'm a very quiet person; I don't talk all that much. I've always felt a sort of comfort in being quiet and listening to what is going on around me/inside me. It tends to make me more insightful than I realize.

Thank you for writing something that finally sees the value in silence rather than the millions of others that criticize it.
