The Universe

in philosophy •  8 years ago

Let's start small and see what the universe is, how it came into existence and what it's all about. This is actually a multi-layered problem so excuse me if I jump around from one conclusion to another and beware that it might not be easy to follow my train of thought because, well, it's my train of thought and not yours so obviously works in a lot of different ways but we'll come to that later on.

We all know the famous words "Cogito ergo sum" (I think therefore I am). And if you didn't, now you do. These words, while in their original written in Latin are actually originating from the mind of a French philosopher named René Descartes (though arguably it is very likely that philosophers before him had already reached similar conclusions). It just establishes that by having a thought it must proof that we exist otherwise how could we have a thought? It's an interesting approach but unfortunately it doesn't proof anything. If you want to assume that we exist just do. Otherwise we may or may not exist - thought or not. That's the nature of philosophy. You have to define some ground rules (called axioms which means you define or assume something as true which cannot be proven otherwise) and then follow your argumentation based on these rules. Anyway back to "I think therefore I am" which I dislike and let's change it for a second and assume "I am because I think". Now you could argue that it's the same thing. You think and then you are so you are because you think. But don't get ahead of yourself and hear me out. I don't believe that the act of thinking proves that I exist. I think that we exist because we think that we exist. Mind creates matter. Now you could argue that thoughts in themselves, while not matter, are also a form of existence and I can hardly argue with that so in that way I have to agree with Descartes.

Now what does that mean and what complications does it have? Well we're talking about the universe here and how it came into existence. I can't answer why exactly but I can answer how and that is that a collective sub consciousness made up of energy decided to create the universe. This collective mind-cloud if you will is made up of - let's assume an infinite - amount of individual thoughts. Each thought then becomes an individual in the "reality" which is us. So this mind-cloud created the universe and started inhabiting it. Coincidentally the reason why the universe came into existence is the same reason this mind-cloud created it. Since we don't know the one we cannot know the other.

Let's talk about micro and macro cosmos for a second. I said the universe was created by the "mind-cloud" a matter-less collection of energy - self aware. You probably wonder where that cloud comes from. I don't have an answer to that question but it is very likely that it always existed. This argument is very interesting because time itself is not necessarily linear or at least not for infinite beings that we really are in our essence. So asking what was before and how long it exists is completely irrelevant in a realm outside of matter. We can clearly date our matter-based universe but it's impossible to date anything before that. In the end it doesn't matter because physics don't really matter in the big picture.

So we're actually part of the mind-cloud and capable of creating, changing and destroying anything and everything. So why does that not happen? Well first of all it does. It happens all the time and all places. In fact it can explain almost any and everything that cannot be explained otherwise. Some of you may be familiar with that concept and know it as something called "The Secret". A seemingly hidden/secret ability that allows you to gain anything you want by just believing in it and the universe will then give you what you believe in. This is partly true but the workings behind it are that the universe is made up of us. So the universe is essentially all part of us. That also means that we're all connected because there is no real separation between us. Yet we sustain individual thoughts and a limited self awareness. This does lead to some complication but helps us in a way to live the way we do.

Let's assume I can somehow manage to believe in the ability to fly with just using the power of my mind. That's actually difficult because every person's mind is made up of two parts. These are your consciousness which you can control (for the most part) and your sub consciousness which you have almost no control over. Now if you would just believe you can fly your sub consciousness will tell you "No you can't" and therefore you don't really believe in it. But again let's assume you somehow managed to really believe in it. Already you stumble across the next problem. Almost everybody else in the universe will believe in the fact that you can't. Now you either believe very very very hard that you can fly anyway or it will never happen unless you make everyone else believe in it too.

You see how that works and why the universe works in a way while still allowing the possibility of everything I just said being true.

I mentioned that this explains almost everything that cannot be explained. For example how and why the theory of relativity works. You see Einstein made his theory long before it could be proven (that's why it's called a theory) and at that point nobody believed in it. Then over the course of years and years people started believing in the theory and if you remember what I said earlier you already see where this is going. By believing in something that may or may not have been there in the first place we actively made it real.

This also explains how, if and why mystical creatures may have existed in the past or perhaps they even still exist in the present. This also counters any argument about whether or not Santa Claus is real or whether god exists or not. Of course they do. As long as anybody believes in them they will exist. In what kind of form/shape or state is a different question altogether but they're potentially a lot more real than you yourself. Another inexplicable thing this can easily explain is the fact that some avatars/mediums or fakirs have a common policy of "The session will only work if you believe in it". Suddenly it makes sense and doesn't sound like a load of crap anymore.

Let's try to tackle the reasons. Why do we exist and what purpose does all of it have? This is something that's not overly thought out and is also a little flawed but the idea is that the universe consists of many different worlds, earth being one of them and that we inhabit these worlds for one purpose and one purpose only. This purpose is to collect experience and to learn more. De facto our planet and other potential planets are schools for our minds or souls if you will to grow and develop into something more powerful. This doesn't really explain the why but makes a lot of sense if you consider it. Why do you read a book or watch a movie or play a video game? Because it's entertaining and takes your mind off of being bored. The same goes for our souls. Imagine you're in a construct where you can do anything you want and there's no end (arguable it wouldn't matter because time didn't exist in that structure but it doesn't change the fact that it would probably be boring if you're aware of your existence). What do you do with all that "time"? Well of course you try to create situations that you haven't encountered before thus learning more and more, hoping that this will never end because in the end you would be stuck in a state of all-knowing all-experienced endlessness (unless you just repeat all of this over and over and make it so you forget that you have experienced any of it before - which is actually most likely what is happening right now).

Another part of this theory is that our souls exist outside of these worlds in their "mind-cloud" state and converse about experiences they want to share. This may even go so far as that our souls are befriended with each other in this other state and plot what they want to experience and what kind of struggles they may want to go through. Which makes it very well possible that this guy you despise may very well be one of your best soul-friends in this other worlds and his sole purpose is to test you in some way or another so that your soul can experience something new and evolve further.
