i agree, although sometimes it takes a long time to come to the realization that what we thought might make us happy or what used to make us happy is no longer working. some people are content cycling thru at one pace, others arent happy unless they try everything. and happiness is an elusive bird that is better flying free then trapped in a cage. the other thing that occurs to me is that we can believe in a goal or an ideal in an organization, yet not agree with other people about how to arrive there. We can still not be happy in ourselves because who we are goes against what other people need or want us to be. sometimes we need to let go in order to see whats real, and what was merely a crutch to our ego.

True, and sometimes it take a long time to really let go and let things settle to figure things out.

I grow up with the spirit of sacrifice and compromise. I always had hard time to say to someone "No".
Now that I am 33 (and somehow wise), I am following more what I really like.
I am not crazy for my job for example and I have been thinking about changing career, but I still want to give it a go.
In the past I had boyfriends that had nothing to do with me, but I still compromised "for the sake of love", now I am more "fuck off, life is too short to do what I don't like"

True! Sometimes we force ourselfs into doing something we think we must do but what we are actually doing is wasting our time and energy and just getting close to a complete meltdown.

We just need to listen to our instincts and dedicate our time to things that truly deserve it.

Our control of our reactions to the world is top priority in my mind. There is some crazy shit going on and however we allow it affect us is our way of weighing ourselves down or letting it go.

Living the dream Afbro Samurai. I do have a lot of projects going on at the moment, but it's letting me reach a lot more people and it's keeping the lights on so I can't complain. I wouldn't waste my time complaining anyway though. Glad to hear you're doing too dude.

i would like to add that for me personally, it has a lot to do with trying to be loyal, trying to please people and keep things happy, and trying to maintain some veneer of what other people/society/work expects (or what you expect of yourself).

I think a lot of the times peoples vision of how things "should be" - often given to us by societal conditioning - doesn't always gel with the reality of the situation or another persons vision. the psycho social imperative to get along, not rock the boat, make things work etc gets held onto way longer than is healthy.

we all want to believe in love and be loving, have the nice things and get along, but there is a point in some relationships where one persons comfort means another persons pain. Pain is a good indicator that something is being injured and you should listen. Sometimes you just need to rest. Other time its just not a good fit.

Personally... I think that stems from a fear of the unknown. Then again I find fear of the unknown to be irrational if we know what we do have is not what we want. :)
