Manufacturing happiness through capitalism

So in my previous post I brought up the question of whether the "free market" which I don't believe actually exists, is aiming to achieve the goal of social Darwinism for companies. Well well well..., I got some interesting responses which included one person who stated that capitalism itself exists to improve everyone's lives and to reward those who put forth the most effort in doing so.

What is one way to improve everyone's life? Make them feel good. Make them happy. Keep them satisfied.

How does capitalism work? Supply and demand. Identify a need, and then supply that need with products and services.

How does utilitarianism work? Utilitarianism states that the best action is the action which maximizes utility.

What is utility? In sentient entities it could correspond to wellbeing, or satisfaction, or happiness.

On Steemit it is getting the most likes. Likes represent this utility. This proves that Steem content even if I don't like it, if someone on this earth truly likes it, then value was created by the production of that content. If value was created then at least in this specific instance capitalism worked as intended.

These concepts go far beyond capitalism, "social Darwinism", competition, or abstract methodology. The concept of "user experience" or "customer satisfaction" or similar concepts, are at the core of something deeper in life in general.

The customer experience, client experience, in anything we do we want to get high reviews from the people who experience us. We rely on feedback mechanisms to monitor progress and avoid gression.

In the most simple human example, we humans typically want other humans to like us. We help other humans to like us by adding or contributing value to the lives of other humans. An easy way to contribute value to the life of someone else is to make them laugh, make them smile, make them happy in some way, to bring positivity to their life.

Capitalism is merely a tool. It's a useful tool for creating utility and trading value. It can be as simple as coming up with a product which saves someone time, or it could be a service which gives someone peace of mind, or it could be just finding ways to improve the experience of being alive.

Yeah capitalism give peace to mind and save time
Great post @dana-edwards

Wish you could view my post and pass comment on that

Just where does capitalism "give peace to mind" and "save time"?
I must have missed that between the periods of wage slavery and institutionalized poverty.

"Always look on the bright side of life...."
happiness is the must important thing in life

I love the concept of free market and capital gains, work hard and be rewarded, with no limits. It feels good to know there is no limits (in reality as you have mentioned, the black market is the only true free market) The downside to the happiness factor is the inequality capitalism brings. We are only 'like' for eaxample, when visible.

Man, I had the "pleasure" to live under COMMUNISM and (for the past 20 years or so) in CAPITALISM (or, as other might name it: DEMOCRACY).

I have to say that in the end both are coming down to only one thing: MONEY!

The communists on one hand where trying to get all the wealth in the hands of a few (in a drastic way, meaning by force, they will just take your land into so called "collective" farms) while on the other hand in capitalism the wealth is disputed among 1-2% of the people, mostly in big conglomerate of companies.

Out of the 2 I will pick capitalism, but only because of its flushy colors - they just take your work/money in a colorful way - via marketing and advertising

Cheers,
Adrian
