I am not crazy... I am not a nut job... I don't wear tinfoil hats... QUIT Calling me names...

in philosophy •  7 years ago

Actually, I am fine with being considered a crazy nut job wearing a tinfoil hat. Why? Simply because I can see those labels for what they are. They are appeals to emotion fallacies, and appeals to popularity. Instinctively we have a bit of that herd behavior. That need to fit in. We want to be normal.

Lemmings like being normal too as they chase each other right off the cliff.

The concept of normal is often used to mentally cage us. We don't want to be perceived as different. Why? Well from an early age difference is attacked. Whether it be skin color, or the fact you're the only girl or boy, or perhaps you are shorter, fatter, or wear glasses. It doesn't really matter. There seems to be some level of innate bigotry in us. I suspect it stems from early survival traits. Cast out the ones who may not survive. Though that doesn't always work out so well. So, psychologically speaking "normal" is us focusing on instinctual animal nature.

We can transcend that. Yet, it requires effort on our part. Most people seem to prefer taking the easy path. Do they put forth the effort, or do they go with the flow?

Transcending this behavior actually also puts you squarely in the "not normal", or "weird" category too. So simply by trying to escape the cycle you are already putting yourself at risk of animalistic attacks from the herd. You are becoming "crazy" according to them. Though in reality you may be becoming more sane than you've ever been before.

So what does calling someone crazy, nut job, conspiracy theorist, or teasing them about wearing a tinfoil hat really do?

Well that is also the Appeal To The Stone. Let's imply something is absurd without offering any proof to why it was absurd.

So why was it absurd? It challenged the status quo. It challenged our comfort zone. It tried to poke holes in our safe space. Perhaps it questioned some authority figure that for some reason we view as an infallible omniscient genius.

Yet it misses the point. Asking questions does not indicate you know the answers. It simply indicates you are willing to ask questions and learn. You are willing to ask questions and not stay in the pre-designated mental safe spaces that are deemed as "acceptable". You are willing to say to the other Lemmings "Gee, that cliff is getting awefully close, should we change direction?"

There is some evidence that this shaming, and attacking people by labeling them is by design. Our increasing use of it has become a very powerful tool in propaganda for getting us to accept narratives whether they make sense or not simply by where the narrative comes from and whether they make us afraid to not be "normal" by shaming us with labels.

So to those of you that feel the need to defend yourself by saying "I am not a conspiracy theorist", or "not to sound like I am wearing a tinfoil hat". STOP. Conspiracies happen. Theory in that context is an idea, a consideration, and is not a statement of fact. In reality often the official narrative itself is technically a conspiracy theory. Asking questions should never be a crime. While telling people they cannot ask questions about certain things actually IS A CRIME. It is censorship. So we need to stop letting them turn the rest of us into mercenaries who will enforce restriction of thought.

We need to say one of my favorite sayings lately. "F&ck Safe Spaces!!" Reality doesn't change because of imaginary boundaries.

I used to be a socialist, but I'm alright now...

Hehe.... Is there a pill for that? There are a lot more people with the affliction you survived.

I totally agree with your words. I do not want to extend your word. Thank you very much. You gave me some time in your precious time. I hope you always share your rules with me. I suggest that I can work very well. If you want to come back to my ID a little bit if you have time on your hand I have posted a little bit Some come with a gift sabena

Thank you

I agree with you on so many of these points. Safe spaces are for those without the mental fortitude to resist ideas that challenge your own. The creation of safe space is in and of itself an admission to the power that these "negative" ideas contain. If every contrary thought and "conspiracy theory" really held no weight, there would be no need to censor them and construct safe spaces. And yet it happens...

I thought Steemit was supposed to be a forum where people could share ideas without worrying about being attacked.

Where are all of the anarchists while the conformists are piling on?

nope...steemit is a forum where people can share ideas with out being CENSORED.
not the same thing.

cant fix stupid

true..but if the Stoopids get to be toooo aggravating they can be muted.

@dwinblood made a very compelling argument a while ago against muting people for simply being stupid.

and I agree.
I haz a little list...
that I mute.
(it varies from time to time)
it includes flat-earthers, conspiracy nuts, anti-vaxers, and Chem-trails.
to name just a few.

I have to admit that I am totally unable to figure you out.

Then again, that's probably your intent.

oddly enough..you're not the first person to say that...not by a long shot.
I haz TWO primary tenants to my philosophy of life.

  1. ZAP
  2. The Scientific Method.
sub tenats of which include but are not limited to.
Occam's razor, Sturgeon's Law, The Iron Law, the MonkeySphere, and others.

We're outnumbered.

Yes the anarchists are outnumbered by the number of people that are willing to let the reward pool wealth be redistributed by one or two people. The "people" are afraid to see the truth of their actions, and inactions, after all they did not come for their reward, they went for someone else's reward.

Well we want it to grow. We know most of the people are asleep at the wheel... and by wheel I am referring to their minds as the car. If we want more and more people to come to steemit it should be expected we'll get more people asleep. More challenge for us.

Getting more people to come only forestalls the inevitable if there isn't a good reason for them to stay.

There are many anarchists here, probaby more that any other popular social media site. I'm following several of them. :)

OMG you went there! Your racist now ;-)

I have actually enjoyed reading your post. I have come to lot of fun. I have never been so laughing anymore. I have come to smile to read your post. Thank you very much. I posted a beautiful post and shared a post of laughter with us. I liked your post.

That reminds me of when I started putting tape over my laptop's camera a few years ago. I had legitimate reasons to do so. https://steemit.com/gangstalking/@snowpea/my-experience-with-organized-gangstalking-and-being-a-tartgeted-individual
People thought I was just like you said, " tin-foil hat, nut-job."
Now that people believe me, and now that more people are doing it, other members of my family are securing their privacy too. The reasons to do so haven't changed -- it's just more culturally acceptable. I even read an article about how the director of the FBI puts tape over his camera. More people are aware than ever before. Keep spreading truth!!! :)

Yeah you have to wonder what type of world we live in when the label "Truther" is intended as an insult. Does that mean Liars are desirable?

is Truther a false flag?
Is the CIA behind it?

It's absolutely ludicrous. Liar doesn't sound nice enough or politically correct enough though. They'll have to come up with a better word if they haven't already (I just can't think of one), or they'll just try to distract us all or turn us into idiots so we don't think about such things.

The obligatory 'rat utopia' and 'Dunbar's number comment.
Any group larger than your monkeysphere (however large it may be)
causes irrational behavior.
Do you have any tin foil hats size eight?

I'm still trying to find some "tin" foil. All I can find is aluminum.

I'll settle for gold foil.

Sign me up for that. Maybe we can get some silly socialists to pass a bill to give us some gold foil hats for free to try to shut us up.

I agree with all of that.

But, what I really want to know, is where to get "tin foil"
Because I need it to make a hat to protect my brain from the microwaves being beemed at me by the govern-cement.

Yeah I think getting "tin" foil might be harder since all I can find is aluminum foil. :)

Again, each has its own asshole and even if one asshole is shitting enough to tarnish a whole group, you must look at each asshole individually, even when it seems hopeless to find one that's not full of shit.

@dwinblood I have actually enjoyed reading your post. I have come to lot of fun. Thanks

To be fair, the lemmings were cohearsed from off camera https://www.snopes.com/disney/films/lemmings.asp

As for tin hat nay sayers versus people who tell you not to be racist or prejudice, one is calling you crazy which may be hurtful to you and is inconsiderate, but if they are calling you rascist, because you've said something which is prejudice based on race, then perhaps the onus is on you to see we all have our own buttholes and you can't blame one for the shit of another.

Yeah, personally I don't believe in race beyond the human race. I could care less about how much melanin someone has in their skin. :)

Most of the things people blame on race I actually think should be blamed on culture instead.

There is an advantage with culture. While not easy, it can be changed. The melanin in your skin you're kind of stuck with. :)

all humans are 'created' equal...cultures not so much
Some cultures should be destroyed with fire, the ground where they stood should be salted..then plowed under.

Fortunately we can't change our skin (yet), but we can change our cultures. That doesn't mean it is easy, but yes some cultures need to be obliterated.

so very true.
and others should be left alone to die a lonely death on their own.

Simply apply free market concepts to them.

suites me.

Unfortunately many are raised in cultures where they are painted with the same brush as their brothers, when again, to each his own butthole to clean, the shit of some shouldn't stain the many. Assholes come in every creed, colour and religion, to think one more righteous then another is to be one. That's my belief, though it seems unpopular these days with everyone hunting for a face to their own disillusionment with society.

My dad got a collostomy during fighting cancer. After that he used to tell people he couldn't be an asshole because he didn't have one. :)

Every group has its assholes but if your group condones, protects and covers for assholes then your group is an asshole

People need to stop judging others just for being different! Even when it comes to being smart, or positive different things about you-- they can still be criticized, like saying nerd or tryhard. Like what?? What kind of backwards thinking is this? Those are the people who are going to be successful!

I think we should celebrate people being different. It's hard to get new ideas and new things by being the same. :)

Exactly. Elon Musk didn't become an amazing inspiration by being the same as everyone else, and the same goes for any other successful person. If they were being the same as everyone else, it's likely they'd be working a desk job. It's insane how people think nowadays.

They go in cycles but there is evidence of some of this style of thought being a problem throughout history. We need to get off of this damn historical hamster wheel we are running in.

ok.
