Wise man once said “you gotta persist and keep on working if you wanna create a good product.” I agreed back then and I still do till now. It’s just back then I didn’t imagine that I would be “forced” to work on so many projects. I couldn’t have possibly imagined all the implications of the overload a human being could suffer prior to finishing my Bachelors thesis. Even then, it was still just a theory. The theory was tested in real life for the very first time during my University finals. And ever since, free time is slipping away and light at the end of the tunnel is still nowhere close to being in sight.

I need to make clear that I truly am not “forced” into doing anything. It’s all my free will, my choices, my hobbies and ultimately my freely chosen responsibilities. I guess it’s too bad I want to play sports, finish university with Ph.D., play games, work for various communities/clients, do good (from my perspective), have a social life while still preserving some free time for myself – that’s just how life works. It’s not fucking rainbows and sunshine all the time. There is only one possible way how to deal with the overload of responsibilities. One is left only with an option to set his own priorities. One mostly “feels” what his priorities are. Studying economy could further help with the decision making.

I often time think about all the responsibilities the university “makes me” pick up. Are they worth it? Do they actually teach me something? Will my “real life usefulness” of any sort increase after enduring through them? Well maybe… For sure I wouldn’t pick all of them myself. Would I miss out? Would I just slip even further into my own social and philosophical bubble? The worst thing is that one will never know for sure. Uncovering whether the outcome is “good” or “bad” for my own being is even harder.

I have reached my limit. There is simply no individual thing of any sort I could pick and do regularly. One priority has to replace the other one. The only aspect that could make me commit to such a replacement is incentive. Incentives run the world.

Card “Ponder” in Magic the Gathering game reads: “Look at the top three cards of your library, then put them back in any order. You may shuffle your library, then draw a card.”

Ponder is banned in my favourite MtG format. It’s simply too OP to look into the future, be able to analyse it, set your priorities and if all of them suck simply shuffle them with the rest of your priorities and hope for the best. Then ultimately you get to draw the priority that you yourself ordered for yourself, or a random one if you had to shuffle. Pondering in real life pretty much does the same thing. Unlike in MtG, no one can restrict you from pondering in real life. Pondering saves the present, for you may act immediately. It allows you to analyse the future and decide what is going to happen to you. If you’re faced with no good option, you just allow fate to decide for you. Pondering is life. Ponder my friend. Even if only from time to time. You might realize what is worth to have/love/support in your life.

And what is not.

For different lens makes all the difference in the world:).
