THE BLAME GAME

in philosophy •  6 years ago  (edited)

Sometimes I sit back and think of all the problems of this world and it causes me to go on a voyage of reasoning to find who or what is really the cause of these problems. Looking around my immediate environment and even the world at large, what I observe is that everyone is blaming someone or something else for his/her problems.

In this part of Africa I hail, if a daughter in-law is barren or has a miscarriage, she blames her husband's family for being the cause of her condition through diabolical means. A child blames the parents for his problems and the parents in turn blame the society or government or both for their problems. As a Christian , in the Bible, we even learnt that our first parents also played the blame game which in turn led to the fall of man(Genesis Chapter 3).

If a student fails his exams or has a low grade, he blames the lecturers or the school system. The lecturers in turn blame the government for the decay of the school system .If the government fails to perform its duties, the blame either goes to the citizens or international bodies.

If a Christian faces problems in his life, he blames the devil or his minions for all his problems. Every religion blames the other for being the cause of religious conflicts. The atheists in turn blame religion as a whole for the cause of most of the problems in the world.

The African Americans blame the whites for their problems. Africans blame the West for their past and present and if possible, future problems. The poor blame the rich and the blame game continues ad infinitum.

What baffles me is that in the midst of all these blaming and what have you, there seems to be no valuable contribution on how to solve the problems inherent in this world because everyone seems bent on blaming the other person, instead of trying to improve his person. It's high time people realized that most of their problems are self-made and the only way to solve them will only come from within. Even some of the problems we think are caused by others, if carefully examined, it will be discovered that we contributed to that problem either by consenting to its being done or being silent when it was done. Thus, blaming everyone or everything around you will not help solve the problem, it will only make it subsist...
