Such an interesting piece of text. It almost read like a story.
The concept of "as above so below" has always struck me as fascinating. I believe in it fully, but how it applies, keeps me curious.
How much of a pull do the big and the small have on one another, how reflective is their nature of one another? Where do they depart, where do they coincide? How much will we come to learn about this concept as we progress as a species?

To understand it you have to look at the Hermetic principle of mentalism. This states that the universe is mental, the All is mind. So, what we see on the outside reflects what is going on on the inside since we are all connected by being thoughts in the Universal mind. This brings us to the idea of a holographic/fractal universe. Because the systems are similar we can understand the cosmos by viewing things on Earth and we can understand what is outside of ourselves (such as other people) by observing what happens on our own internal planes.

In my experience, they have a direct pull, because they are the same energy flowing through various levels, or dimensions, or whatever people want to call them on any given day ;) But for the reflection, what manifests in the physical may be a clear reflection, or may come out in ways that are hard to notice here.
It is the nature of all things here, so goes beyond a concept...If you want to notice it in action, just watch closely, and be open to see the energetic movement vs the outward appearance. Like, Why do I keep meeting you in these types of discussions ;)

From a very simplistic level, I notice it in my daily life. My default mode tends to be worry and anxiety. If I'm not tending to my thoughts and feelings then I cycle down into darkness and thus my environment is dark. When I monitor and actively raise my energy then my environment is pleasant.

My husband struggles with this daily too...he does understand it all, and knows how to release things, but for him it comes back.
I tend to have a slight disconnect from the world in a way, so can maintain an energetic lightness longer...and I work with manifesting regularly, so it becomes easier and easier.

There is an exercise to grow our attention, I have done it since I was small. It sounds super easy but is actually very hard to do.
All it is, is noticing one of our senses all day. Touch is a good one to start, because our skin is all around us, but most of us forget it is there for most of the day.
So the exercise, is to notice the skin, all day. How fabric feels, how air, temps, water, everything feels.
When the moments happen when you realize you forgot to be aware of it, then just be okay with it, and begin again.
So then pick different senses on different days.
It is really hard to do, but one of the best exercises there is.

The idea is that what constructs the Universe is one "thing" divided into many distinct parts.
Think of a puzzle. It makes one concise image using many individual pieces. This is the idea behind hermetic principality, that the Universe is entirely one consciousness playing many different parts and interacting within itself as away of understanding that which it is... that which it is being everything and, simultaneously, nothing. Because if everything is everything, and has nothing else to compare itself to, it is essentially nothing.
A simplified version of this is the saying "Creation is simply God looking into a mirror"

At one of my rental houses back in 2009, there was a sticker that said As Above, So Below on the mirror. It was just out of the way enough where I left it alone and didn't think much of it. Then I started coming across texts and references to that concept as I started to explore consciousness and reality. I always felt drawn to the words and the concept of how everything is fractal and connected really resonates. I too agree that it's hard to fully grasp the meaning of it. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Seems like people of old had a lot more figured out than we give them credit for. Sometimes I ponder the strange reality that being "primitive" (according to today's metrics) actually meant people had more time to sit around and think about the Universe and Meaning... while today we are all too absorbed in chasing dollars, power, success or whatever.
The other day I happened upon a youtube clip where a spiritual teacher was showing how NOTHING we experience happens outside us. Everything is our internal processing of what we're exposed to... "you" exist only as reflection that comes in through my eyes and becomes my experience... similarly, "I" don't exist for you, except inside you as the experience you make it.

Beautiful post! I am currently reading Thrice Great Hermes by GRS Mead which is a study of the sources, philosophy and history of Thoth/Hermes lore. A part that just caught my attention was him talking about Ancient Egypt's connection to the stars, specifically Sirius, which they saw as their guardian star. Looking at it from a Gnostic angle (the name Seth is also related to Sirius), the famous "as above, so below" could also to be taken to mean that life, or even humans in other forms, exist in the stars as they do on Earth. That life may even come from Sirius, or the Orion Nebula, or the galactic core.
