I'm a very indecisive person. It's a quality that I'm not proud to have, but I'm aware that it exists regardless. Recently, I've been trying to be more assertive in life by not asking others for advice before choosing to do something (or not do something). And it's been great. There's no doubt that making choices on your own can be a very scary thing. What happens if you make the wrong one? That's the question goes through my head every time I'm faced with a huge choice to make. But it's best not to live in fear, so here are some ways for you to make better decisions without the help of others. While it's tempting to ask for advice for every big decision you have to make in your life, you need to practice making decisions by yourself and trust your own thoughts and actions. Once you start loving the decisions you're making, you won't need the approval of others.
The best way to make a decision is by knowing what your goals are. When you're more aware of what you want out of your life, you may be able to make better choices. Depending on the situation you're in, this one can be hard to follow through on. Whether you're making a decision about your relationship, your job, or your general well-being, every decision you'll make includes one thing in common: you. No one else is living your life. No one will understand what your day-to-day is like and what your gut instincts are telling you. Still, it's never a bad idea to ask for an outsider's perspective
Whether you believe it or not, you probably already know yourself better than you realize. But sometimes, you ignore what your gut is telling you because you may not want to face the reality of the decision you have to make. It's easy to make poor decisions when you're in a bad mood, especially when you're hungry, sleepy, or stressed. I mean, if you're trying to figure out what you want to eat for lunch while you're hungry, well, that just makes sense. But when it comes to life-changing decisions, try to make sure you're feeling comfortable and at ease before you decide what your next move is going be
One has to take into account that people are advising according to their perspectives, ideas, experiences etc and these can be far from ours. For them, it could be the perfect solution, for us not so much. So, listen everyone, but decide alone.

So true, making decisions use to be difficult for me. I've learned to rely on my gut when making decisions. If something seems off before I make the decision, then it's off. If something feels right, then it's right. It works 100 percent of the time, even when investing :)

You probably have the perfectionist trait, which could sometimes contribute to your indecisiveness. I possess this too.
To make decision, weight the consequence of action and......fuck it, just do it. Be ready for consequence though.

Personally, I just try to live by this mantra, "Just feel fucked up and do it anyway."
That's how you get out of your comfort zone, by feeling fucked up.
It's about just doing it ANYWAY and not thinking so much.
At least, that's what gets me out of bed.

@journeyoflife Oh boy! I'm equally indecisive! It makes even daily life so difficult. It can get in the way of something so seemingly simple as posting as I'm constantly asking myself, is this good? You do a great job with posting and present some very good ideas to counter this rather tricky behavior in this one. Nice post!

Great post, I like it :)
Always seeking the opinion of others in order to make a decision is an external type of motivation. Trying to decide alone is a more internal type of motivation but the best thing we can do is to have a balance between the two.
Something I like to do when I meditate is to first think about my goal, where I want to get in like or in a certain situation. Then I lay out all the options in my mind and try to visualize every possible outcome. When I'm done I think about my goal again and try to find the outcome that may bring me closer to my goal. Ofc you cant always get the result you want but over time that simple thought experiment may bring more positive results :D
Please check my new post, I think you will like it!
