❤️ How to stop being a people pleaser ❤️

We must live life for ourselves and not for others. Staying true to yourself, will bring you happiness and help you achieve your goals. When you try to please others, you may feel taken advantage of because your actions are not true to what you want. Here are 5 powerful habits that have helped me.

#1. Realize that you have a choice
Realize that you don’t have to do anything. People pleasers often feel like they need to or the owe people, when really, they don’t. You don’t have to say yes to everything.

#2. Stick to your goals
To achieve your goals in life, you must put yourself first. Your priorities should be to take care of yourself before helping others.

#3. Set boundaries
If you are not comfortable with something, have the courage to tell someone “no.” If sleeping 8 hours a day is important to you, and your friends want you to hang out past midnight, be strong and stick to the boundaries you gave yourself. You must respect yourself first if you expect others to do the same.

#4. Don’t let guilt guide you
Often, we do things we may not want to do out of guilt. This can lead to exhaustion, resentment and burnout if you allow people to guilt trip.

#5. Have confidence
Being confident will help you stay strong and keep to your decisions. It may be hard to tell people “no” at first, but people will respect you. It will make you feel good for stick up for yourself.

Hi @karensuestudios, I just stopped back to let you know your post was one of my favourite reads and I included it in my Steemit Ramble. You can read what I wrote about your post here.

If you’d like to nominate someone’s post just visit the Steemit Ramble Discord

Oh thank you! Do you mind explain what discord is? People keep inviting me, but I'm not sure what it is.

Discord is a piece of software you can install (or use it in your browser) that will open up a whole new chat world for you. It allows for both voice and text chatting. There are several servers on there that are Steem Related.

They range from a place like the Steemit Ramble to chat and nominate posts for review to a rocking server like Steemspeak that at times has some pretty rough and tumble discussions going on and everything in between.

You'll meet some great Steemians as you visit the various servers.

OHHH how cool! I'm just on regular steemit chat. I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the solid explanations. Voice chatting sounds amazing!

I can see the freedom of joy in your eyes. I like you Karen. Yes life is short why waste a second? Enjoy every moment. Smile more <3

aww thank you so much for the sweet comment. It made me smile :)

I am glad that i made you smile. I really like the way you smile in the pictures.

Karen so perfect women....@

thanks!

You are welcome...

Nearly everything you do is of no importance, but it is important that you do it.

- Mahatma Gandhi

thanks for the wise quote!

hehe love this!

aww that's awesome!

You seem to be a very nice person and I honestly believe that your advice is helping a lot of poeple.

Can you possibly spare a while to explain for me, where that 'must' in your opening statement is coming from? ('We must live life for ourselves'). What worldview it's coming from?

It's not a critique. I'm just trying to learn more about life coaching and if there is a particular worldview as a prerequisite for it to work?

Hmmm that's a great point you bring up! You don't have to do anything, but it was meant to encourage people to live for themselves! I've seen so many people get taken advantage of and it's mean to just be more of an inspirational thought. :)

I see. For sure you're right about 'so many people get taken advantage of'.

But I'm worried that any human society as a whole is basically a 'taking advantage of' machine... It's hard to fight a society...

I guess we need to try anyway. Thank you for your answer @karensuestudios :)

trying is the only way to stop it! :) Thanks for your comments.

True, and it needs a strong self-awareness to do that. Sometimes, I may still fall under the pleaser during work. But after that happened, I was like damn, what had I done. Devastating, but one step at a time. Thanks for the strong words.

Great post 😉 and so true. Be your own boss and do things on your own turms and not letting others make you feel guilty about it.
Very inspiring and something we all can relate to 😆 thank you so much for sharing this.
Have a great evening

heheh it's lunch time where I live! It's cool how Steemit connects us with people all over the world. I agree being your own boss is a good feeling! :) Hope your evening is great.

aww glad you enjoyed the read. Thanks for stopping by again! :)

Amazing post karen. Life if full of joy. So ome should not waste anytime and enjoy as if there is no tomorroe. Upvoted and followed u. Please review my sunset post if possible and provide your feedback. https://steemit.com/nature/@nainaztengra/my-love-for-sunsets

remember there is a difference between a people pleaser and being a nice person. If you like making people happy, don't stop doing it because that's what makes you happy. Just remember not to let people walk all over you.

I am a victim. This post is like an antidote to the pain. You can't just please everyone. "put yourself first" that's the key to true happiness.
Thank you for this great post ma'am.

I like your writing style: short, simple, and straight to the point.

These are the words we live by, as well @karensuestudios! We have found we affect the world outside of ourselves in a much better way if we are healthy and healed within ;)
