Does it translate somewhere else?

Ok, so here is one thing for you to consider while participating of this new paradigm. As much as it's quite fantastic to write articles, to share ideas, to discuss them with peers and what have you. Do you write in a way that it can translate to another platform or do you focus on the echo chamber you decided to call home base?

The reasons why I ask are quite relevant and worth spending some thought fuel on. After all, we tend to be too comfortable singing to a cheerleading audience, but no doubt, repeating what everyone already thinks, the talking points that everyone already seems to agree on, is possibly not as productive, and more so, possibly nothing remotely close to self improvement.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to pull a Tony Robbins here or anything that lame, I'm trying to talk about something of substance, something most of us should care about.

I for one feel very grateful for my experience on the whole cryptosphere, and I say that while I'm also including the times I've made terrible and I do mean terrible calls. The whole process has been one of growth, a difficult path of learning, of practicing skepticism and critical thinking.

I think along those lines, the things we write about, the experiences can translate to other platforms and even more so reach across the room to make them more relatable to people who are at different stages of their journey.

But here is the interesting element that we might be missing out on. Let's say that we are blogging, documenting our journey on one of these platforms, but the way we talk, the way we address the audience sort of speak is so akin to shilling, as it's called these days, that the effect it has, the result is the opposite. It hurts the outward projection of the platform. Is that a possibility?

No doubt times are changing, and social media, traditional social media is dying a slow painful death. But I think it's pretty much up to us to be astute on how we take some of that ground back.

Also I made a whole lot of concerns..not just this...as long as they keep diversifying the criterias we would be ok...

its actually impossible to sell follows... poly made a comment on the vlog i shared earlier. reads it.

Seems like i commented on wrong post..this comment was meant for the dlive post..

Tcpolymoth just says it dilutes the worth of each follow with increasing number...doesnt mean there cant be a market for it..

its a race to the bottom tho... not a sustainable system..

I am not disagreeing. .the point is the algo should be very diverse ..with multiple point of failures..

Yes, it does have them, and they are being upgraded.

We all good then ?

we good bro... we good :)

Do you write in a way that it can translate to another platform or do you focus on the echo chamber you decided to call home base?

Yes.

In seriousness, I write a lot about Steem, but I also try to write a lot about things that are more generally appealing. I have several series that I intend to turn into short books in hopes of generating a small residual income from them.

(On another level I'm also writing for a website that pays me in the traditional fashion, though not as frequently as I probably should be.)

as @jeezzle has pointed out, there are a lot of things coming... so it's good practice.. hedge our bets kind of deal, you know?

I have a small presence a bunch of places, but Steem just has a huge advantage in that people have built so many tools on it already. Trying to use Scorum or Whaleshares is just immensely more difficult without things like Gina, Steemworld, curation communities, active social Discords, and so on.

So I'm hedging a little bit, I guess, but it's hard to imagine any of those overtaking Steem. Scorum might become its own notable thing because of the subject focus, if they do it well, but it still has a lot of the problems Steem had two years ago. (52-week powerdown times? Really?)

I generally write in one of two voices, and about one of two things.

Fiction.

Life in general / motivation.

I think both of those things translate well to other platforms.

My last post, for instance.

https://steemit.com/life/@jeezzle/being-positive-is-the-answer

Being positive is the answer.

It doesn't really have anything to do with shilling this particular platform.

Personally I kind of get tired of seeing posts that are all about Steemit.

Don't get me wrong, I love to get news about the platform. However, I've probably already got it once and don't need to see that same thing like 40 times from everybody's different perspective.

As I was writing this, I was actually thinking of the fact that you are transplantable (i'm not kicking you out, its just an observation :P )

You mentioned a little while ago that you've been posting on Trybe, and that kind of made me thing about this idea. How many people on Steem can't write for an audience outside of steem?

Dunno, but a crazy thing to think about.

It's a particularly interesting topic because so many different blogging platforms are on the horizon..

Trybe, Scorum, Onstellar, Appics.... to name a few.

EOS with it's "Steemit 2.0"

I love this platform but I think it's a good idea to get your feet wet, you know?

Frankly though, I think if you're doing well in this platform.... it probably means that you write pretty well and that you know how to find an audience.

Great post. Very relevant.

I post a lot about philosophy, fiction and poetry, a bit of history and education, a bit of music and a bit of theatre.

I think I'm still trying to find my way around here (there's not many people interested in reading about tough philosophy, for example) but in general I like the fact that I can write about any of my interests (there are a lot of them) with a certain liberty. I think I am "translateable", just don't know where to, I'm not familiar with anything outside of the mainstream of social medias hahaha

If I can get more of my friends here I promise they will adore you.

@joaoprobst is trying to build a philosophy community, but it's in Portuguese.

Well I guess it's time to take advantage of the closeness between spanish and portuguese hahaha

I think there is a growing #philosophy tag on steem, but its quite translatable to anywhere really.

do you know @clayboyn - he even has a philosophy show on #mspwaves

There is but it seldom tackles philosophical problems (in a strict sense), in my opinion, it mostly focuses on self motivation/self help, but you're right it is growing...

I don't know him, I'll check his profile, thanks :)

All writing is communication, whether it be novels, plays, scripts, factual, blogging, or whatever.

And all writing has an intended audience, be it the smartest 5 people on Earth (eg James Joyce's Ulysses) or everybody in the world (eg Harry Potter).

There is nothing wrong with writers communicating solely within Steem about Steem. After all, that adds value to people's lives.

But IF the stuff we write COULD easily be adapted to speak to people outside the platform, then it probably should be tweaked to do so, and republished outside the platform, with links to the platform.

That would add value to more people's lives, and more value to Steem, as well. :)

That would add value to more people's lives, and more value to Steem, as well. :)

its like steemception my friend... the ninja move.

A mí, me encantó conocerte y leerte a diario.
Gracias por compartir tus experiencias con nosotros, amigo.

Again...
THANK YOU!
