Matter

in philosophy •  3 years ago

Philosopher and physicist Mario Bunge developed a philosophy linked to scientific knowledge. According to its view, matter is a generic concept that might be defined by philosophy in very close communication with scientific evidence. Matter in philosophy is an ontological concept that could be defined as: “the set of all material objects”.

An object x is material if S is the set of possible states and Sx (the set of possible states for x) is at least 2.

This definition includes all material objects and phenomena as atoms, molecules, energetic fields and others.

It is a very great definition of matter and just a piece of Bunge’s scientific philosophy
