I think Neeson or anyone else should be able to discuss their thoughts and feelings without getting attacked for it. It's fruitful for them and for everyone else, as we get to understand one another better - if we're trying to.
But, I do find it interesting that he claims this was a long time ago and that mindset is no longer a part of him, because the question posed that inspired that response from him was something akin to "how do you get into the zone for revenge type movies."
If he had truly transcended his hatred and prejudice, then surely putting himself back into that time frame would beget only a feeling of regret and perhaps even stupidity. But, if when thinking back to then, he is empowered with a feeling of rage towards blacks, it makes me wonder if he is not in fact still angry at them, and therefore able to tap into the revenge-esque emotion he is seeking to emulate.
Just a thought though, whatever his prejudices I still believe he ought to be able to discuss them freely and be debated about them rather than vilified. But you're certainly right that the media is using this to further divide us and make it more difficult to engage in debate because no one can have a proper discussion while angry.
It is great what you are doing here. How would one earn an invitation to participate in one show?
