Can you know when you love someone?

There are many things we claim to know in this world but as a philosopher, i believe most of these things are pure beliefs and mere opinions.

There is a clear distinction between knowing and believing. While the formal is an affirmation of fact/reality, the latter is nothing but a mere opinion. Also, to claim that you know something, it must be true and not for now but also true when tested. This perhaps would make the idea of knowledge ad infinitum but as philosophers, we try to take nothing for granted. Everything must be checked and all claims are verified and questioned.

Many people have claimed they love one thing or the other. Some were even convinced they have a feeling which they call love. Love as a word is hard to define and it has no univocal definition. People define it according to how they feel. This does not make one definition true or the other false. It just tell you how complex the topic can be when it is being discussed.

Modern psychologists define love as the strong desire for emotional union with another person. Love is involuntary. It's a craving for a specific person. It's like thirst and it will make you do strange things. It's a natural addiction. Source

Knowledge, on the other hand, is the awareness and understanding of particular aspects of reality. It is the clear, lucid information gained through the process of reason applied to reality. Source

Knowledge is an affirmation of something we are sure of which can be verified by others. Once an idea is personal and against logic, such is a belief or an opinion.

If we truly understood the meaning of knowledge as explained above, can we truly say we know that we love anything? 

Love in a non-symmetrical term in relational logic. This means it is 'non mutual'. That is, person A may love person B but person B may or may not love person A. If this is granted, then how can we verify the claim that you 'know' you love someone?

Perhaps you are making a wrong statement! It then means your correct statement should or ought to have been: I believe i love person A. The word believe makes your statement personal and something that is true for you which may be false for us.

Logically from the above, it means you cannot know that you love someone. You can only form an opinion based on what you are feeling at that moment. Do not forget also that human feelings cannot be predicted. You might not feel anything the next day and the question of whether what you felt was real or illusion would be asked to ascertain the truthfulness of your claim.
