I remember writing these words. It was around the time I started my business and they meant something to me. They still do. Many seem to think that passion is the driver of activity, the love for something but how I see it, it is the necessity to act once inspiration strikes. The thunder chasing the lightning so to speak.
Each and every day, we can live with passion, act with passion and work with passion but, it requires inspiration. Where that inspiration is derived and what inspires each individual can differ greatly but what I have found is that it requires creativity. The most mundane event for one can be so filled with meaning for another that they cannot help but act upon it, cannot help but be filled with the energy to move, change, create, grow, expand.
Do you understand this, do you feel it in what you do? Or, like so many, are you acting on automatic pilot, acting on habit and not paying attention to the world that is so filled with potential inspiration a thousand passionate lives are just a drop in the ocean? People are looking for passion whilst they avoid paying attention to the life that is there to inspire them, to be the lightning strikes that make the gaps in the atmosphere for passion to occupy.
Are you experienced? When you do what you do, when you live your life are you living, are you really alive? How would you know if you are continually avoiding? How do you know what true passion is? Do you think it is a nice feeling?
Passion is not positive, nor negative, it just is a source of energy that compels one to act. If you see what you think should change yet are not compelled to act, are you really being honest with yourself, can you claim passion? Or is that complacency? Perhaps there is just too much risk in being passionate these days, too much cost to suffer as one tries to change what people are using to avoid living. To take away their security blanket of illusion.
Change always comes with the price of what is, the status quo, the comfortable. Change is a movement away from what is not moving now and in that act, there is risk as with any move comes uncertainty, unknown, insecurity. It is what makes it all so hard, it is what makes people avoid it at all cost.
At all cost, don't they see? There is a cost to not changing as without change, all stops. The seed never becomes the tree, the child never the adult. Without change, maturity just cannot happen and without change, death comes swiftly.
Yet, where is the lightning in a life of avoidance, how do we expect to change well when we do not even hold the passionate that compels us to change, let alone the understanding through attention of what must change, what must be destroyed now for an improved future?
Passion. There is so little of it in this world now as people entertain their minds and bodies to make themselves feel good and at the slightest gap, they feel hollow. Yet, instead of feeling the heat from the lightning that struck them in that silence and let the thunder rush in, they again fill the space with entertainment to take their attention away from reality.
Where does it lead the world, society, community and the individual when no more lightning strikes are recognised, no more thunder rolls in? What happens when passion dies? Perhaps at that point, the robotic life rules.
I wonder who will be the last standing, the last to fall with passion in their heart.

Passion involves vulnerability, removing masks and exposing something you really care about to the world. For a lot of us, that is terrifying.

Indeed. So rather than pay the cost of revelation, we pay the cost of self-repression.

Passion can be a luxury that many can at least seemingly ill afford in the modern world and within modern society. I think many men and women are passionate or were passionate about certain things but pressures and responsibilities of life can consume ao much of our time and energy just to maintain some sort of equilibrium that passions can and unfortunately are lost with many of us forgetting or giving up on our dreams even before we leave adolescence.
Personally, I think if we all followed our own individual passions in life we would be in a better position by far than we are now but we would all have to know ourselves first to know our true passion which can be a difficult thing in this crazy fucking world. :(

What if the problem is that people are limitiing their experience of passion because they feel it shoud be in something they enjoy or at least are good at? Perhaps, that is why there aren't enough people solving problems or trying to solve problems. I think passion and pleasure are quite unrelated.
A passion artist must be passionate enough to solve all the problems in the way to allow them the space to create. It is not up to the world to make that space for them although, the world would be a much better place if more if it created space.

Without passion you are not living. If you have a business and you are seeing a client your passion needs to come across. It means you care and believe in what you are doing. How many people working for companies now have any passion. very few. Probably started with it initially and had it kicked out of them with all the red tape.

I think it is because most people never started their career path really doing what they loved and the jobs they get follow suit.

Excellent post about passion and the change it brings. Corraling passion to our benefit to advance the pleasures or problems that come with it. Best to move forward than do nothing. We will become a society of craziness with untold passions being turned into neurosis. Humans are gifted with imagination bringing passion along with it. 🐓🐓

Passion is eroded as reality continuously batters it down until there is nothing left. Without a periodic renewal of passion, it will disappear without a trace.

Death of passion can only lead to death of what makes us all human but repression they say is also a form of expression.

When passion dies so does the majority of what makes us human. The desire to do things, our driving force comes with passion

I remember our days in school. I happens to read chemistry, a course that most of its students had wanted medicine and pharmacy but ended up getting chemistry or botany. Am sure you know where this is going, no passion for the course they were offering and it shows badly in the outcomes. But I used to tell my colleagues then who complain of the lack of passion, that to me passion must not come naturally, it can be created. I don't know how true that is and how long it can last but I have seen it worked quite well for me. If you are going to do a thing, then find a way to do it well, and nothing can be done close to perfection if the doer is passionately distant from what his doing.

People use there passion for a variety of things. Some helpful and some pointless. The energy is probably squandered more often than not though when the work needed is realized.
