Perfect Doesn't Exist And That Is Why I Think That Perfectionists Are Delusional

in philosophy •  7 years ago

I prefer lying down in my bad without any drama, so I won't be lying to you today - I am a lazy person. That might be the main reason why I hate perfectionism in any kind or form. However, I am also good at making excuses, so here are some of my best excuses why perfectionism deserves to be hated.

First of all, perfect doesn't exist. It just does not exists. Whatever you do, someone will do it twice as good and twice as fast. Whatever you say, you can say it better. Whatever you write, you can write it in a classier manner. I am not even talking about fashion and taste. To say that someone has a perfect taste is as stupid as investing in Bitconnect. Too soon?

And still, people think that perfect does exist. And people pretend to be perfect and even spend their lives chasing that non-existent idea of perfection. Isn't it stupid? But even worse, perfectionists love to make the hell out of other people lives as well because they cannot stand an idea of some lazy ass youngster like me lying in the bed all day, watching movies and taking naps. Of course, I am not talking about degeneration here. We all have some work to do and we all have to be independent both financially and economically. However, we don't have to be perfect at it. I, for example, am super happy with where my life is going even though I know that I could stop watching stupid YouTube videos and do more exercises, writing, and whatever else is good for my body and soul. But who cares? Seriously, who in the world cares?

I know I don't. I just want to achieve my long-term goal. That's it. I can be a freaking failure in the rest of things I do. And I don't actually mind that because when people don't expect much from you, you cannot disappoint them. So, I am not trying to be perfect in everything I do; I choose to enjoy life better without overthinking too much. Of course, I am working hard toward my main goal in life, but I am not rushing it; I am not beating myself up because I didn't do enough on a given day. That is only because I understand that nobody in the world cares about these little things. And the ones who care forget in a few seconds. And that means that perfectionists work their asses off for no reason most of the time.

Don't be perfect. Be a failure who enjoys life. Just have some standards you follow and avoid degeneration.

Life is YOUR game so play it any damn way you want my friend! 😊

Yeah, that's the best part about it and that's what I am doing I guess.

I judge a person's success by their happiness, that's all. Perfect is only in the eye of the beholder. I'll leave you with this thought...

Have a Great Day :-)

Wow I have never seen things in this light before but this is very valid cos no matter how successful if you re not happy it means nothing

I know rich people that are miserable pricks, and homeless people living day to day I'm happy to spend all day with and have way better conversations with.
" Some people are so poor, all they have is money ' :-)

Oh yeah, this is an amazing thought! I try not to judge at all, but I guess I would change happiness with right decisions. But usually, those right decisions bring happiness along

happiness is a state of mind, and you hold to key to it, Change your mind....change your life.
Cheers

First of all, perfect doesn't exist. It just does not exists. Whatever you do, someone will do it twice as good and twice as fast

I agree with you on this but I would also prefer to aim for the moon if I miss I wuld eventually fall among the stars. Like you said we don't have to be perfect at it all

Yeah, you have to try, that is for sure. I just don't believe that trying too hard and forgetting to enjoy life is worth it!

That's right

Dude, perfectionists acknowledge the fact that they are not perfect nor never will be; they do, however, strive for being close to perfect, which is a reasonable endeavor. Your point is invalid.
