Yoga Poses (Asana) is 1/8 of the whole system (The eight Limbs of Yoga) developed by Pantanjali. It is only one part out of eight parts.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga are a series of steps developed by the sage Patanjali. He calls them steps and also limbs, because although they have to be followed sequentially, they cannot be separated. They are like the parts of a body, all have their own unique function, yet they are interdependent on each other.
