Do you notice flickering on your Androids&iphones? Or static noise intercepting your calls when you are on the phone?.It pains me to tell you that your phone has been tapped.

Over the past few weeks, i keep having this strange feeling that my phone isn't just mine anymore, some unknown entity might be tapping my gadget remotely. I use an Android phone with:

Specs

• OS: Marshmallow (6.0.1)
• Baseband: A310F.........QC8
• Security S.V: ASKS v1.2_161011
• KNOX version (2.6)
• Kernel Version: 3.10.61-8581216 dpi @SWE070141
• Android security patch level: March 2017

So i embarked on some research to confirm this strange activities on my device. Firstly i discovered that the battery runs down super fast in use and when not in use - This is not a low Battery Anxiety people of any sort. Battery temperature is high, that was my first finding about tapped smartphones.

Secondly , my mobile data is eaten up by some unseen hungry forces, plus i have a huge chunk of generic data filling up my storage space. This increase of data usage intensified my curiosity.

Another strange thing is the flickering on my screen: like a static interference showing in form of "snowflakes". All this unsual activities made me deepen my findings on Smartphone wiretapping.

Possible Causes/How smartphones are tapped

• The most common one is through spy softwares: This happens when you download Softwares and apps from untrusted domains, with this many had fall victims

• Public Internet (Wi-fi and Li-fi): Gadgets and smartphones are easily tapped with this means. Most public Wifi and not so secured, brute forces can easily tap into the network and download personal data from all devices connected.

• Bugs: Bugs are extreme cases. Covert Special forces use this means of tapping sensitive informations except one carelessly misplaced his/her phone and some happy hacker picked it up.

Detecting Spy Software on your Device-
iOS and Android Users

• For Android users like me, go to your seettings, then Applications, then Manage Applications/Running Services i.e
  Settings-Applications-Manage Applications.

From here, you might be lucky to find some strange and suspicious files on your device. It is advisable not to uninstall/delete any files except you know for certain what they are used for or you have an expert attend to you, otherwise you might render your phone useless if the essential files are deleted. The reason is simple, disguise is the attribute of a very good spy program: so the file names are not so glaring when you looking out for such files, but often some of this files have some terms in them like "monitor, spyware" etc for easy finding.

• For iphone users, hackers will have to jailbreak your phone first, before installing any Spy app on the phone. In the past, such breach had been recorded, when hackers break into the network of a device and then cart away with huge chunk of personal data. Apple Inc. had fixed such defciencies, but there are always loopholes. Upgrading to the lastest iOS always do the trick , you can download the most recent updates on any Apple trusted sites, this inturns removes any jailbreak off your phone and all external apps not from Apple. NOTE: Backup essential data before carrying out the above action.

Generally for iphones and Android users, factory resetting detaches all Alien Softwares/Apps. Remember, it is very key to backup before doing this- You don't want all your data to vanish. And ensure a strong passkey to avoid future unauthenticated access to your devices.
