Initially, there was a mansion of the titular councilor A.![)G. Pyatigorovich, which in 1898 was bought by the actor Mikhail Mikhaylov. He ordered the construction of the current four-story building by architect Alexander Krivosheev. Here was opened an apartment house and eight shops on the first floor. In 1902 a gymnasium was opened in the house. The pupils lived in the upper floor, and the classes were located in the lower ones. Since 1926 there was also a school here, this time labor.
