The royal flowers of the quince!

in photo •  7 years ago  (edited)

Among fruit trees there is very interesting tree. It is quince (Cydonia oblonga). As for me the fruits are a little bit specific although they are used in many dishes. However its big pink flowers are quite another matter and I suggest you to ascertain the truth of this.

Beautiful photos! I did not see how the quince blossoms. Her flowers are very beautiful! Do they have a flavor?
Of quince I like jam, but not all can tastily cook it :-)

Thank you very much for your kind reply dear @ludmila.kyriakou! Unfortunately the flowers of quince have unpleasant odor. Also I agree with you concerning jam. Particularly I can't cook it :D

Quince jam:
INGREDIENTS:
quince - 1.5 kg.
water 750 ml.
granulated sugar - 800 g.
PREPARATION:

  1. Thoroughly wash the quince and cut into 4 pieces. Peel the skin, remove the seed chamber and cut into small slices.
  2. Slices fill with water, bring to a boil and boil for 20 minutes, until softened.
  3. Pour into a colander and allow to cool.
  4. Decoction to use for the preparation of syrup.
For 3 cups of liquid, 800 grams of sugar. If the broth turned out to be less, add water.
Boil the syrup over a small fire until the sugar dissolves. This takes approximately 10 minutes.
  5. In the boiling syrup, add the quince, allow to boil and boil for 5 minutes.
  6. At the end of the time, remove the pan from the cooker. Fruit leave in syrup for about 4 hours. During this time, they will become soaked with sugar.
  7. Next, cook for about 5 minutes and again insist 4 hours. When cooking quince jam a second time, add about 400 grams of sugar. On low heat bring to readiness.
  8. Allow to cool, pour into a jar, close the lid and put in the refrigerator.
    The recipe is not mine.
    :-)

Thanks a lot!!! I will try :-)))
