A WINTER WONDERLAND... AND WHY I'M GLAD THAT I MOVED FARTHER SOUTH

in photo •  7 years ago

I just talked to @truconspiracy, and I guess they've got more coming!

These, thankfully, were taken up in Wisconsin. While we might get down to freezing temperatures tonight here in Arkansas, I don't think that we will be getting snow again. While it may be beautiful, I'd rather not have to shovel it. Also, I am glad that we moved further south because I'd rather not have to spend as much on heating our home in the winter. We plan on using firewood in the future, so warmer "cold temperatures" means not as much wood will be needed.

WINTER WONDERLAND BEAUTY

These photos were taken up in Wisconsin in the woods behind my parents house. I spent a lot of time here growing up, and the creek was a favorite of ours. For me, these photos bring back a lot of memories. For you, they will hopefully display some natural beauty. Enjoy!

YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO FIND

From "wild snowmen" to @little-peppers climbing in trees, life can be exciting out in the woods. Here are just a couple fun photos taken during the photo shoot!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Until next time…

Beauty is really seen through nature.
Nice pics.
I like to see snow and small river nearby. Sometimes I expect the river to be frozen and that's not the case.
Keep on steemin'

Take me with you papa-pepper.

Ouch! You're in a bad spot there man! Right on the edge of all the worst!

Better on the edge then right in the middle.

Yeah, good point!

Aww man! I'm right in the middle!!! And we just finished shoveling...

Very good nature photography!

I love now and winter season because the place I leave is very hot almost 10 months in a year and we all wait for the winter season which is only for 2 months

Here is my place where exist so cold.

The forest is a very beautiful place for now. Snow brought a very cold weather, but I have never felt because I live in Indonesia. I really like the snow scene photos of you. Hopefully @papa-pepper and family always healthy and happy even wherever located. Warm greetings from me @rizasukma.

✋ This cannot be!
Those weathermen need to go back to global warming school! 😏

Yeah, they changed the phrasing to "climate change" now to cover their butts....

Snow? Wew ... i like it, in Indonesia there is never snow @papa-pepper

...they will hopefully display some natural beauty

And they did display the beauty. Thank you

Yesterday (April 16th) I had to snow blow my driveway. The latest date I have ever seen it snow in Southwest Michigan was April 14th about two years ago, but in melted immediately. My family is all over the place. We have some in Michigan's upper peninsula, some in Southwest Michigan, but the really smart ones live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

It's a nice winter, congratulations you enjoy.

Awesoom...Photography

Yup, WI is getting even more snow! And it's the really dense, packing kind which may be good for snowmen but is TERRIBLE for shoveling! Our driveway was a nightmare!

Beautiful Photos @papa-pepper but i never saw snow in my place its simple temperatures @papa-pepper as this picture new sun is starting to riseIMG_20180415_064911_HDR.jpg

🎶Do you wanna be a snow man🎼...

I love snow... I would like to feel the snow... Better than of the heat of the sun here in mid east. Its easy to make hot but its hard to make it cold. ☺

I wish I could hit you with a snowball and let you feel that snow!

wahahaha... Come and hit me! LOL
I will make a manual canon snowball and shoot! you! Hahaha... I think that was fun! hahaha... I am imagining to play with your kids too! LOL

I hope! I hope! Someday I will come to your place to meet you! (^_^)

What is in that creek?

  • Gold?
  • Pyrite?
  • Crayfish?
  • Frogs?

...that creek looks like it is a habitat to something special. You said you spent a lot of time there growing up.

Please tell me there is more interesting things in that creek besides just water. :)

The Farmers Almanac says for me to not put away the parka until April 30th where I live.

Summer is beautiful..
...winter is something else

I can definitely enjoy winter in Vancouver (where I'm from) especially on beautify snow days. But I'm really not a fan of Melbourne (where I live now) winter! I think it's the lack of central heating in Oz that I can't get over :P

Such an excellent photo of the little pink pepper looking through the tree!

Cool photos and article! I live in another part of the world, in the "sunny" this winter)) Moldova lay snow until April. For two months I was watching a bird under my window that I had never seen before, as it turned out, it was a waxwoman. I shot the video until I spread it, a little later, and so, how this bird survived the frosts and snowfalls - a mystery! I threw the bread that I threw, she did not eat, everyone ate the tits, she stayed in one tree for two months .. alone. Kindred I did not see, but every morning and evening, I watched this bird. Huge life potential. I see moss, or a lichen, in your photos, this is an excellent food for forest dwellers, in order to survive the winter. There was a blanket of snow under my window.

These pictures are amazing. For sure, they bring back load of memories for you. I can understand. Never experienced or seen snow before hahahaha, expect when I dream and watch movies hahaha. I hope to, one day. Let me feel the thrill.

Been 4 years now without snow or cold! The folk here put on a stocking cap and a sweater at 72 degrees. I actually love the cold, but I don’t like to be cold. That smack in the face when you first walk outside. exhilarating!
But, as you said, there is something to be said about not shoveling snow. And when you visit the north, the little-peppers can sled and make snowmen.

I love snow (maybe because I live far away from it, but it would be exciting some activities in the snow, skiing, snowmobiling, snowmobiling, dolls and even snow war, where my son would be happy, and in my country what we have is a big wave of heat, so we can do a little exchange of climate and balance the time. lol

Broke my snowblower. Very dense snow/ice chunks at the end of the driveway.

I wonder who put those there! City plows....

We just got a bunch more too...mostly melted thankfully. It's APRIL!!!! ;(

The snowman brings back lots of fun memories from when my sons were a lot younger! lol These woods look like a great place to play while growing up. But I'm with you, the cold and snow can be brutal. My last year in Canada 20 years ago, cost me over $3000 in propane to heat our house.

Ouch! Over $3000 in propane just for one winter! I'd start trying to bottle farts or something!

For everyone who doesn't know, we are entering a mini-ice-age.

It is like a breathing cycle for mother earth.
It will bring all the fish back in the oceans and clean the air.

However, those snow storms that lasted one week, will now last a month.
And when the power goes out,

  • because the river (hyrdro) froze
  • because too much snow on the power line
  • because too much demand on the power grid.

It is going to stay out, because we do not have the ability to repair things in the middle of a snow storm.

So, if you are in a place where it freezes, get a wood burning stove and some firewood. It will save your life.

Very wise advice!
