History of bikes:

  • The forerunner of the bicycle, the dressage, will change the idea of transporting people, though its inventor will be accused of causing droughts by his two-wheeler.

  • The first bike that could really be ridden was made in 1817 by the German baron Karl Drais, 1785-1851, with the idea of completely changing the way people move. Nearly two hundred years ago, on June 12, 1817, Drizz, with his bicycle, was able to cross the distance from the German city of Maynheim to the Schweizers Relayshouse. It was the first trip of a man on a bike.

  • In the coming months, Drizz will successfully navigate numerous distances on his invention. He will be called Laufmaschine, but he gets the name of the dresser with age, which is derived from Drizz's name. The dressage, though the first bike, didn't really have pedals. The driver bounced off the ground with his feet, thus moving the vehicle on two connected wheels. However, he was really moving, keeping his balance.

  • Drizzle was one of those inventions that preceded the Industrial Revolution - at a young age he had various furnishings with the Duke of Baden, was a loading and guardian of the forest, so that after the discovery of the bicycle, his social position and finances would be greatly improved. He received an honorary academic title, a title and a lifetime pension from Duke Karl.

  • Although secured for its two-wheeled invention, it will turn out that for the rest of his life, Drajza will suffer all sorts of bad things and life crafts. After one affair, Drizz is persecuted and embarks on an exciting five-year expedition to Brazil. In old age, he relinquished his title during the revolution of 1848, and the following year he was stripped of his pension by the authorities of the province of Baden. That is why in 1851 he died in poverty.

  • Interestingly, during his lifetime, Drizz was attacked that his invention disrupted the natural balance because humans no longer move on two legs, leading to the great droughts that prevailed during those years. But despite this, Drizz managed to take the first step toward a revolution in transportation.

  • Before the Drizzle, there were multiple attempts to build a bicycle, and the first ideas were related to Leonardo da Vinci. Reportedly, in 1790, the French Count De Sivrak devised a similar machine, which he called "fast", since he thought it was a device that transports people fast, that is, fast. But it has not been proven that he was able to drive it.

  • Dressage quickly became very popular, but the first truly widespread bike was made in 1870 by James Starley in England. Since it did not use gears and chain, with this bike one pedal turn was equal to one wheel spin. That is why the pedal wheel had to be large in order to move more easily.

  • Although ugly and inconvenient to ride, this bike has become very popular. It was named "penny-farting" because it resembles two English coins - the penny is the largest and the farting is the smallest English coin.

  • One of the first models of bicycles with gears and two equal wheels was manufactured in 1885 under the name "Rover". Since it used today's chain-assisted transmission system, this bike moved very fast and people started buying it en masse.

  • From 1900 until today, the look of the two-wheeled bike hasn’t changed much. Interestingly, air tires were first used on bicycles and then on wheels of cars.
