Hello, Friends!
So there came the second major holiday of the year after the New Year. In Easter holiday the whole country participates. Our region is Orthodox and celebrates Easter not like Catholics, but later. Last Saturday, they celebrated Easter, and we had "Palm Sunday". And in a week there will be a "Red Hill".

Because the Orthodox and representatives of several ancient eastern churches adhere to the Julian calendar it`s "old style". Western denominations - Catholics of the Latin rite and Protestants - adhere to the "new style", the Gregorian calendar.

How does this day go with us (Lugansk, Eastern Ukraine, now the LPR, the DPR and Ukraine-controlled Lugansk and Donetsk regions). In particular, in my family. We visit the graves as well, gathering together with the whole family. And after returning home we already laid the table and celebrated.

It is customary to remember loved ones at the cemetery. That is, near each grave on the table, people drink, eat snacks, Easter cakes, sliced and eggs. And then they move on to the next graves of relatives, friends and acquaintances, leaving 2-4 flowers, bouquets or wreaths on each. That's the whole family. Before this, you must definitely come to the graves of your closest relatives and put things in order, paint a fence, remove grass, last year’s flowers ...

But in recent years, our traditions have changed. We put things in order, of course. We no longer eat or drink near the graves, we just plant flowers and remember our loved ones. The flow of people is such that everyone goes in a dense queue in both directions, and cars go the same way. This is despite the fact that many people began to visit the cemetery on Krasnaya Gorka.

Artificial flowers, colored eggs and Easter cakes are the main attributes of the holiday. And according to the purity of the graves, people evaluate each other's arc and their attitude to loved ones and to their memory. Generally believing people the night before Easter go to the church to hallow Easter cakes and painted eggs.

Thanks for your attention.
