Super Blue Blood Moon
Its almost here ladies and gentlemen, the magical "Super Blue Blood Moon". On January 31st we will be witnessing a total lunar eclipse combined with a Blue moon leading to a Super Blue Blood Moon. To get an idea of what we have to look forward to, a lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earths shadow. This happens only when the sun, Earth, and moon are close to or aligned with the Earth in the middle. Total lunar eclipses only occur a maximum amount of twice a year, depending on the year there might not even be a total eclipse that year, and minimum once a year. This year there will be two total lunar eclipses, one on January 31 and another in July 27/28. Though as of right now we are only concerned with the first eclipse because its the one that is going to be combined with the blue moon to form the special phenomenon called Super Blue Blood Moon. Lunar eclipses on their own are actually not that special and are pretty common since you will see more than a couple dozen within your life time. The Super Blue Blood Moon is a special event because it is a combination of two events which hasn't happened since over 150 years ago. So make plans to sleep outside to either share a romantic moment with that special someone or take that breath taking picture, either way its definitely going to be a moment to remember in your lifetime.
I didn't write anything on the blue moon part because after doing some research it turns out that its a pretty common thing that happen a multitude of times throughout every year.
These are the areas in the world that should be able to see some if not all of this magical phenomenon:
- North/East Europe
- Asia
- Australia
- North/East Africa
- North America
- North/West South America
- Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean
- Arctic
- Antarctica
If you are in one of the locations stated above and want to see this phenomenal event visit: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2018-january-31 for more information on the exact times that you will be able to see this event unfold. The website does an amazing job at telling you exactly what time it starts to when it will end, that way you can prepare yourself by changing your sleep schedule to be able to see this special moon event.
PS: This website is also a great way to be able to get information on future moon or solar eclipses.
