Feel the heat! Lightpainting on a footbridge with a fisheye lens

in photoccircle •  5 years ago  (edited)

This is what happens when you spin a small cheap firework on a drill and have a willing "victim" aka "volunteer" stand and pose on the footbridge without flinching!

First of all I set up the frame with a Samyang 12mm full frame fisheye lens and lined up my friend Dean F. I set the exposure going in complete darkness and made my way past Dean to the rear of the frame. I "carefully" lit the firework and started spinning. Once the firework was spent, I then used a blue gelled flashlight to light up the textures on the footbridge and all the while Dean managed to keep perfectly still.

This image was created in one photographic exposure and is not a Photoshop creation. The camera used was a Sony A7 with a Samyang 12mm full frame fisheye lens for the distorted effect. And for the record, the firework was used over a fast flowing river and there was no danger of any sparks setting fire to anything; we also took appropriate equipment along just in case!

About me: I specialise in shooting lightpainting images all in one photographic exposure which involves different elements with different lenses and tripods.
