Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum

Last night I was contacted through my website by a lady who wanted to buy the rights for a photo to use to make for a jigsaw as a gift for her Mothers=, who loves doing Jigsaws, 100th birthday celebration that is coming up, it was a photo I took back in 2012 which got me looking through my photos and led to this post as I was looking through my photos from back then.

Now two things I should mention, I refused to sell the photo, I offered it as a gift for such a momentous occasion as someones 100th Birthday.
And secondly, this is not the photo I am sending her, I have asked if she could share a photo of the Jigsaw when done so will make a post if she does send it to me

Now you may wonder why I decided to share this shot and the others in this post now, and again there are two reasons,
The Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum is pretty cool to see so I wanted to share these shots, and it also reminded me its been a few years well 7 since I went there and I must do a visit to it again this year.
And secondly, because looking at these shots reminded me of a comment I made to someone recently if you get into a rut with your photography, do not compare yourself with others, but look back and what you did a year or a few years back and you will probably see your style and photography has changed a lot and it may well re-motivate you.
Now back when I took these shots I was probably very happy with them, but Now I am not so impressed and feel I could do a lot better now.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is an American military and maritime history museum with a collection of museum ships in New York City. It is located at Pier 86 at 46th Street in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood on the West Side of Manhattan.

Howdy JJ! wow these are all awesome shots and isn't that interesting about the lady who wants to make a puzzle out of on of yours, that's pretty cool!

Thanks and I was quite touched byt he jigsaw I look forward to when she send me a photo of it

Howdy today JJ! yes, you'll be famous, at least in one household! lol.

LOL I am infamous in a few already LOL

in a few households? lol.. that's too funny there JJ!

Wow, these are huge carriers. I cannot imagine the number of planes they carry on these ships. Pretty impressive. I have to say, that is so kind of you to share your photo for the jigsaw puzzle gift. (And you say you're such a tough guy....lol) Your photos are so fun to see, keep on sharing them @tattoodjay! :)

Thanks hey even a tough guy have a rare nice moment lOL

Ohh yeah the size of them is incredible, I remember years ago a carrier visited New Zealand and they had twice of all the NZ military forces on the one ship

In my untrained eyes those are still beautiful photos @tattoodjay! What an honour to get such a request, a lovely gesture on your part:)

Thanks and I just could not feel good in myself if I had charged for the file, and I hope her mother loves it its a photo in a park her mother used to go to ;)

Never seen a space museum before, didn't even know that it exists! Great job :D

It is such a cool museum huge and so much to see on it

Very nice! I somehow lost all of my photos that I took from The Intrepid. I guess they might be on a drive somewhere at home, but they definitely aren't with my other NY pictures... That is awesome that they want to make a puzzle from one of your pictures! My dad had someone want to make a clock from one of his once.

I have all my photos on backup drives back to 2007 I think, but cant find my photos before then, I must go through my boxes in the attic I am sure some of them are in a box somewhere.

I have to admit the thought of one of my photos being on this gift is a nice feeling :)

My trips to New York were quite frankly a lifetime ago. I still remember them fondly, but they were before I met my wife and don't hold quite as much value to me as they did back then. I am guessing that is why the pictures got lost to the shuffle.

Could well be When I was doing most of my travelling was when I didnt have a camera, I wish I saw so many interesting things both good and bad in those days, but such is life

Nice shots! The 'moody' sky behind the planes just made the pictures that much better. Gave it a dramatic feel.
:D

thats true i got lucky in visiting there on a day where the clouds and sky adding to the effect :)

Those planes are both A-4 Skyhawks, a single seat, subsonic carrier-capable attack aircraft. They are no longer used by the US Navy or Marines, but are still in use by the Argentine Air Force.

I just revisited the Intrepid last year, while I was in Hell's Kitchen. ;)

These are great shots. No matter what you think, although I know exactly what you mean!

!tip

Firstly thanks for the tip which you shouldnt have, my tipu resources are running low at the moment, so I may have to be more scrimpy with them

thanks also for the info on the planes I should have known you would know :)

Oh, tell me about it! A couple weeks back when we weren't getting any real money, I almost ran out on Market Friday! My voting power was so low that I was pretty desperate, but it all worked out.

But, I will say when I have to be skimpy I am. I don't even have to make excuses for it, because you just not going to get blood from a stone. So I like hold back those tips because you will need them for Wednesday walk. And if you don't have any don't even mention it. You and I have gotten to the point where we expect to give tips and forget that a tip is an extra bonus!

Of course I should know those planes! LOL

LOL Yeah thats true we have got like that I have enough for this wednesday walk but after that who knows lOL

Sounds like a plan. Seems like i am getting wayyyy less today and yesterday.

Probably has something to do with the Bots battling each other.

Yeah but if it rises above $1 we may start getting them again, fingers crossed

Oh, there you got me dreaming again!

Thats good dreams are free ;)

to me it just seemed the right thing to do :)

Oh wow!!!
When I first read it I was curious to know why would someone want to buy a photograph to turn into a jigsaw puzzle... I mean there are tons you can buy at the store
Then I saw the pic and it is absolutely gorgeous... the colours, the sea, the clouds...the ship... everything about it
And the second one too from the front...
And that's really nice of you to gift it
You are an amazing photographer ;D
Thank you for sharing it here on the SteemVerse <33

Its not any of these photos it is a photo of a park her mother used to go to so it has a special meaning int hat way as well
as for giving the gift of the file it just seemed the right thing to do :)

oh I thought it was the first one
I am sure that was just as beautifully captured
Now I can't wait for her to share the completed jigsaw puzzle with you so you can share it here ;)
Not everyone would feel that way... so I think it is still a very nice gesture :D

1 Imorgan park Glen Cove3.jpg

this is the photo she wanted ;)

Oh wow!!!!
I knew it would be gorgeous....
That bottom half as a jigsaw puzzle though... hmmmm
It's beautiful...
Thank you sooooo muchhh for sharing it here <33

Awwww... what a compliment - I am not surprised... I wonder if the mum had any particular attachment to the subject of your photograph... I wonder about things like that! Lol... Very gracious of you to gift it to her...

I know what you mean about the comparison between photos now and before - I have seen it too and wonder how I thought those were good then! I guess the more we take, the more we improve... I have seen that with my own photos and with others here too!

Have a good day ahead, JJ! :)

Edit: Ohhh and these photos here are marvellous - yes, the sheer size of them all is overwhelming!

The photo that I sent her to make into the Jigsaw is of a building in a park she used to go to, so yes it has special meaning to her mother

Looking back is a good way to remotivate ourselves ;)

Great job! Do you use photoshop? Something I really need to get into.
I love the photos to start with and then you edit them so well.
Not sure if that is any funds left let me try.
!tip

100 yrs and still going. Now that is a gift.

Heck yes

I have astonished to see the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum of American military and maritime. Because it is very large and you are captured it beautifully. Nice photography

thanks it seems even bigger when you go into it

Wow, I really like that top photo. The blue-grey of the ship and the sky against the green of the water is especially eye-catching.

thanks, I really must revisit there sometime soon :)

love the dreamy look of this :) great shots!

Thanks so much :)

Of course you know what I am going to say about the great post JJ? Just the idea of you offering your photo for free to a worthy occasion shows that you are a man of integrity. Regarding old photos, I started off with a small camera and till now have not used any enhancement programs such as Photoshop et al, simply because I am too dumb to use them.

Your latest photos might be an improvement, but they cannot erase the memories of times past when you took the earlier photos! Blessings!

Shhh do not say that you will ruin my reputation as a Tattooed thug LOL
and yes a very good point the memories are what are most important, and some of my treasured photos are of family and not share don here but they trigger wonderful memories :)

Great captures!
I used to enjoy seeing it as I rode past on the bike path. It’s such a cool sight to see in the middle of the city.

Quite possible as I’m forever on the move as well.

Very cool technique! Great shots, @tattoodjay ! I always like to visit such exhibitions and museums. By the way it is very good to compare the style of photography in different periods of life. I don't divide them into better or worse - they're just completely different :). It depends on many factors of perception and mood at that time. Thanks for this footage!

thats a good point, maybe not better as such but my style has changed and i guess also technique improved a little as well

have a great day
